We just got back from our yearly Silver City, New Mexico desert mule deer hunt. Unfortunately I came back empty handed but fortunately my buddy Stric9 who's a part of the forum got himself his first mulie! A really nice one too! What made it even sweeter was the 437 Yard neck shot he put on the buck with his Tikka T3 Lite chambered in 300wsm. He's got a Leupold VX3 4.5x14x40 with the CDS built to his handloads 180 Nosler Accubond. He spotted the buck bedded down, ranged him, dialed in and Kaboom! DRT as we'd call it...Dead Right There! We recovered the bullet in the bucks body. Here are a few pictures for you all to enjoy.

Congrats! That's a super nice buck for that region especially in a drought year.

What does he measure width wise around 24"?

What bullet?

The bullet manufacturer would probably appreciate pictures and your right up as well.

Did it enter the neck and finish in the chest?

Congrats again.gun)

it went in his low on his neck and traveled the full length of his body. we found it when the deer was upside down and it was sitting perfectly on his stomach of course it went all the way through.
It was a nosler AB

Man that's outstanding performance!

This is a great example of why I recommend everyone use a huntint bullet vs match OTM's.

My bet is, Nosler would appreciate the pictures including the bullet along with the story. That kind of stuff sells LOTS of bullets!

Again, congrats on a great hunt.

We didn't measure him but I'm guessing 24-25".

I'm with you on that one. I really have begun to use the nosler Accubond bullet in most of my rifles. It's an excellent bullet to shoot. I shot my mule deer last year at 500 yards with my 270wsm and it went through both shoulders. Dropped him in his tracks no tracking needed. That's all i needed to see and I've been loading AB ever since.
