Hey Everbody, figured if i was ever goin to lern bout dis stuff better get sum scoolin. Figured this was a good place to start. Seriously love this site. Been looking at it for 2 yrs now and finally joined. Im 42, hunted and fished since i was born and have always dreamed of shooting longe range, not nessecerily shooting game at long range but always wanted the skills. havnt got to rifle hunt outside of FL yet(have been blessed to bow hunt in Ohio a couple times) and as those who live down here know, they aint a whole lot of longrange hunting, and very little shooting to be done. I love learning. Hopin to soon win the lotto so I can upgrade my equipment, but for now want to work on the skills. Sorry my first post is so long. I'll try and keep my questions short and few. Glad to finally be here.

welcome aboard. you will find this is a good place to learn.
i also live in florida although im from pa and spend considerable
time there also.
actually there are a number of places to shoot in florida.
probably more than you are aware of.
there is a club in the palm bay area with a 600 yd range.
indian river county has an excellant public facility west of sebastion and close to rt 95. 200 yds is max distance.

I live in central FL........... a year new to this site and also love it. Worlds of information and knowledgable members as you well know if you've been visiting for 2 years.

I too am eager to learn all I can about long range shooting (my longest kills - 300 yds). I want to get proficient before trying anything further and that all depends on fulfilling my dream to go west again; but for now long range targets are great game.

I have one long range target rifle being finished any day and about ready to have a long range hunting rifle (deer size) built. I already own a semi custom rifle capable of long range on larger than deer size game.

I have so much to learn and so many rounds to fire before I go for anything alive at long range. Part of this goal is to go to a shooting school in the next 12-18 months.

Good luck and enjoy.

YoBuck,

Thanks for the welcome. I didnt really mean to make it sound as bad as I did. Actually my brother helps with settting and developing the courses at Sporting Clays range with a pistol and rifle range about 25 miles north of me (just north of Waldo).Great Place and Great People. They have a 300yd, 600yd, and are either building or already have an 800yd range there. Just cant get there as often as i'd liketo. I' ve not tryed the 600 or 800 yet as I am still trying to tighten my groups at 300. All I have is factory built rifles with bedding and trigger work done to them. Trying to get better with what I got but hard to do much with limited funds. All I need is more money and more time(haha). Look forward to all the schooling.

Long Range Junkie,

Thanks for the welcome. In my continuing effort to create my wish list I kept coming across this site. I like real world data when it comes down to decision time on equipment not just sites thst post just the good reveiws about products. So I figured if I was going to pursue my dream I would seek expert advice. Hope to get a custom built rifle soon and for sure go to a shooting school. Ditto on the LR game . My longest kill was last year a doe at 275yds. I will stick to the steel and paper out past (350+ yds) for now.Wounding game isnt good eating it is. Ill try not to bug yall to bad.
