I figured I would share this photo of a family gun. This gun was handed down to me by my father. It was bought in the 60's from a store called O'Tasco here in Oklahoma. Not around now and not sure if they had any stores out of state. But, I figured the folks here would like to see a pic, especially of an old gun that has been taken really good care of.

For those of you who do not follow Winchester, this is a Model 88 Winchester chambered in .308 win. With the maple leaf basket weaving I believe it is pre - 1964. It has been awhile since I have done any research on it. When I did do the research there were two periods for this gun, the late 50's and early 60's which was the maple leaf and then again in the late 60's . The late 60's was just the basket weave. After the last run in the late 60's the Model 88 was discontinued. The maple leaf held the greater value over the late 60's model. The version of the Model 88 that is pictured have sold in my area for $800 - $1100, that is if a person was lucky enough to find one. In the last 15 years, I have seen only two and those were at pawn shops. So, here you go. Enjoy!!!

The rifle as never been refinished. It remains just as it was bought from O'Tasco. What I love and find so unique, is the lever action and a taste of an A-Bolt. Kind of neat!

The white specks I did not realize were on her. They removed quite easily once I realized they were there. So, I am sorry to those die-hard Winchester lovers.

Oklahoma Tire and Supply Company had stores in some other states. I bought a BAR 30-06 from one in Arkansas.

If the year is important to you, Google serial numbers winchester model 88. I like the 100's better myself. Got a project going with restock rebarrel, I've always wanted to see if the potential is as good as I think.
Bet your Dad had fun with it, hope you and your's continue having fun!
