What to do with old barrels

I am starting to get a few old barrels taken off my rifles and others. Any idea on what I can do with them?
Got to be something that is useful.

If u make your own breaks then muzzle brake material if not they can be used for fireform barrels sometimes. Depending on what the original caliber was.

Fireform barrels, and use pieces for your next build for a bump guage.

If contours allow: have them cut down for times that accuracy is not as important as having a fast handling short barrel ( very easy to swap back in). If you think you might want to give a try at cartridge designing they are very useful for preliminary try outs because they're free.

If the barrels have any life left in them, you can sell them in the classified section. You won't get much for a factory barrel, but at least its something.

If you've got one with a 338 bore, I'd be interested in taking it off you hands, providing the price is right.? I'd eventually use it to make a fireforming fixture for 338 AX.

Also, if you've got one in 22 or 6mm, I shoot wildcats in both those calibers too.

An interesting subject. In my area most of us have 1 large pile of useful scrap metal and a small stack of known good barrels. At 30 cents a pound for mixed scrap we all decide, is it scrap or is it useful. I have no problem letting a person that impresses me have a decent barrel for 30 cents a pound and 30 minutes of shop time. Is it possible for a charitable gesture to return any less than 7 fold?

If you've got some old actions that aren't much use and you'd be willing to part with, I might just take you up on that. I've never heard of those sites, and this is the only one I spend any time on really. It sure might save me a bunch of money in the long run to get an old action and barrel for forming 338 Lapua into 338 AX. But on the other hand, the gun is shooting sub 1/2 minute with forming loads and so is a 243 AI and a 6 Long Dasher......so perhaps I should just use them as is.? Just takes more load development time. Once to form, and then some fine tuning once the brass is formed...?? Decisions Decisions, LoL

Trouble with 338 LM is base diameter and length for getting a hold of a good suitable action to play with. Push feeding a RUM through an old garage sale M77 is always an inexpensive playground to play in. The disabled sportsmen need you. All that is done is to build their ideas! Just a little time on someones part! Each piece of adaptive equipment is unique so mass production is not possible and almost always falls into the hands of Grumpa down the street'
