Iam in the process of breaking in a barrel. I shoot seven rounds last Sunday. And used sweets. 7 69 .I let it sit in my barrel 15 minutes then swabed the barrel. Then patched it out till it looked fairly clean. Then shot and repeated till I had no time left that day .this being a family man I kinda tough when u want out pf the house. My girls keep calling wanting me to come home and spend time with them. OK back to this. I got in my order from miday with wipeout and tried it after 6 hours no blue liquid can out of the barrel. Is the liquid support to turn blue when using it. With the sweets there was lots of blue. But not with the wipeout. What do u guys think. It had ten rounds down the barrel.?

I have been pleased with Wipeout. I have even tried the clean barrel test where I cleaned the barrel with other solvents and then used Wipeout and got more blue patches out of the barrel. I like the fact that you can put Wipeout in the barrel for a long period of time and it won't hurt the barrel.

I don't use the accelerator with wipeout thus do the overnight set time.

for shot clean shot clean process other stuff will certainly work, but I have used and continue to use Warthog II. Looks like its now called Warthog 1134......

Has to be ordered on line. I flat love the stuff.

Your story is a bit disjointed; let me ask some questions.

1. You 'shoot seven rounds' cleaning thoroughly with sweets after each shot; getting positive copper indications after each shot, (including the last shot?)

2. Did you then shoot another 'ten rounds down the barrel' before trying to clean with Wipeout?

Because your description of the cleaning procedure is inadequate. Also, your story seems to be missing the firing of 3 shots.

My break-in procedure:
I loaded 20 cartridges in a ladder test in preparation. First, I cleaned the barrel thoroughly, of copper and powder fouling,(none of the copper solvents I've used affect powder fouling.)
Removing all the copper is paramount!
I use a copper solvent laden nylon brush, apply 5 or more to insure the entire barrel has solvent. (Brush stroke from chamber to muzzle.) Let it set 5 minutes then remove with a patch. Repeat entire process if patch is blue.

I bore sighted it in a few shots at 100 yards, then started-in with the ladder test. After each shot I cleaned for copper and powder fouling.

After the 20th shot I was zeroed at 100, had a few possible loads to try, and my barrel copper fouling was reduced drastically.

OK. I shot and cleaned the first day 7 times cleaned between each shot. Then I came home got up the next day drove to a friends field and fired 2 rounds into a dirt burn. Cleaned with sweets. And fired a tenth shot. Come home and tried the wipe out non foam cleaner with excellorator. Let sit for 6u hours or so and didn't get any blue out of the barrel. I don't know Mabey with wipeout the liquid doesn't turn blue.?

I wana use this 338 edge for long range work. How many rounds do I need to run down the tube for brake in. I wana keep my extreme. Spread as low as possible. And I have read that when a barrel is new and not broken in velocity,Can vary buy as much ad 50 fps ,even if the reloaded cartages are all consentreck and the same.

From reading your post, sounds like your are expecting lots of blue for one round fired. I'm assuming you have a custom barrel since it is an Edge. Maybe it's broke in already.

By the time I got to my 10 shot of the break-in, it copper fouled significantly less but it did copper foul.

Reading their site, it is supposed to sit 1 hour. Try letting it set 1 hour instead of 6 then see. According to the site, it will turn blue.

I called terry at sharp shoot r and talked to him about his product. He told me how he uses it and it worked great got some blue copper out after I tried his way. He was a real nice man and a pleasure to talk to about shooting and his product. Iam very happy with how it works now.

So if you don't mind me asking....what was his way?

I was very pleased with Wipe-Out for 2 years & it always seemed to remove copper just fine. However I decided to try Bore C4 Carbon Remover to see if it cleanup out carbon that might be left behind. It intact did cleanup left over carbon well that Wipe-Out missed. I also discovered that it cleaned out copper than Wipe-out missed.
So I decided to reverse the procedure & use Bore Techs C4 first & follow up with Wipe-out. I did this reversing of Wipe-Out & Bore Tech C4 & discovered that Wipeout never left reside that Wipe-Out could remove.
I made an assumption that it might be possible that Wipe-Out degraded over time. So to be fair I Emailed the Wipe-Out manufacturer explaining my delemma but I never got a response. I've tried using Wipe-Out several times in the last few years supposing that Bore Tech C4 might also have a shelf life, but Borsch C4 works just as well the last time as it did the first. So I said "goodbye" to SharpShooter's C-4.
