I just read on the HBC forum that some gentleman fired a 30/06 shell in a 300wsm.
I don't now about yiou all out there, but iI just can't see a 30/06 case fitting into a 300wsm chamber.
I am looking at the two case at this moment, and no Frigging way.
What do you all think?

Yeah, does not seem possible. (one heck of a "crush fit" :) )

Recently saw the aftermath of a rifle that someone touched off a .308 in a 25-06 Rem Sendero. Bolt damage, case rupture, but the gun kept the brass in the chamber.

re-read the original post. It was a 300wm he put a 30-06 into......I still would have thought you would feel/see the difference?? at least he's okay

Yeah, you would think.

I've never had it happen to me..

Would like to think it is just because I am careful. Things like this are a good reminder to be careful.

The guy who chambered that .308 into 25-06 was experienced, been shooting for years. Maybe the 1 / 100,000 chance of error caught up with him. (lots of shooting, lots of chance for error)

Good reminder to be careful / observant.

hmm, 30-06 in 300 win. That brings a new meaning to freebore, on both ends, those bolt heads are a fair bit difference in size. Did the brass rupture or do an odd fireform?

I've seen a bunch of 'um! .243 Win. stuck in a .22-250,, couldn't get the bolt closed,, then couldn't get it open! Same deal with a Weatherby MkV, 7mm Weatherby in a .270 Weatherby. Some I've seen that did manage to get the bolt closed, and fired,,,, .32 Win. Special in .30/30, .300 Win Mag in .300 Weatherby Mag, .257 Roberts in .25/06, the list goes on and on! Makes me wonder where comon sense has gone. There's a thread over on 6BR, guy has fired his rifles at the range about 100 rds. each, doesn't have time to clean them, will they be OK 'till I find time [to clean them]? Might be awhile before I do!
