SOLD/EXPIRED Krieger Heavy barrel .17 mach 4 and accessories

Krieger 17 caliber mach 4 barrel once attached to sako A-1 action. bought the rifle and decided to re-barrel to 223 AI. 11 rounds down tube. virtually new. Krieger gets $425 for unchambered 17 caliber barrel. also included is two boxes of bullets, 200 221 fireball brass, and basically new 3 die set from redding. barrel is 25" long and tapered. what you see is what you get. $400/shipped to CONUS. twist rate is 1-10. 3 shot one hole breaking in @100 yards. no recoil, would make perfect little squirrel rifle.

I'm not familiar with a Sako #1. Can you clarify the action it was cut for?

I have some Tikkas that could use a barrel like this. Most are threaded and headspaced the same as a Sako.

dear sir,
the sako 1 is the shortest action sako makes for cartridges such as 17mach 4, 223 etc. more importantly, is the thread pattern used for sako also used for tikka. as they are the same company i believe they are. i just called me local gunsmith, who is quite knowledgeable said the same as well. to be sure, i would call a tikka/sako person for last word.

I only asked because I am rather fluent in Sako/Tikka and since 1954 they have never made a rifle or action named a #1.

The model you state intrigued me and I thought that maybe somewhere I had forgotten that model or missed it in Sako's history. After quite a bit a digging through Sako's historical data, there is no record of a #1.

Obviously the Tikka and Sako threading would be the same.

My concern is two fold, that the barrel may not be threaded for a Sako but possibly a Ruger #1 OR that the Sako action labeled a #1 is a knock off. Either way it will require more effort than it is worth to put on one of my Sako or Tikka actions.

dear sir,
this rifle is/was a "mountain eagle" custom rifle. they build rifles in several different configurations but ALL have a few things in common. They ALL use SAKO actions, ALL uses KRIEGER barrels, and ALL(that i have seen use HS PRECISION stocks. i went on gunbroker and found an example of a sako a-1 action. its # is 254841311. it only has another 30 hrs or so of time left on aution so go look at it and you will see an excellent example of a sako a-1 action. the sako a-2 is 22-250 length, a-3 is long action and a-5 is long action magnum. i dont know if they still use these designations or not. i bought another because the first one, with a pac nor barrel shoots so well you wouldn't believe me if i told you so i wont bother. let me know if you have any other questions.

This was a designation given to Sako's in the in the late 70's and by late I mean 78 ish 79'

Sako "A" series actions is what this gentlemen is referring too.

the AI is a L461
AII = L579 ETC...

Thank you for the clarification. I am familiar with the A series actions. My confusion was the title #1 that is usually reserved for rugers. That is why I was trying to make sure which action he was referring to.

This may work for a varmint project I've had on the back burner and I love the caliber.

I'm traveling quite a bit this month but want to sit down with my smith prior to committing.

Joel,

Sorry, not interested in the barrel just trying to shed some clarification on a Sako A1 for Jason. However I do agree, kriegers are also my choice of barrel for builds. Brux are running a very close 2nd due to turn times and $$.

I would also list this beauty on www.sabuier.com there are a few Sako's nut's on there not to mention it is all about the sub .22 calibers.
