Ruger drops 6.5 Creedmoor

According to a poster on the 6.5 Creedmoor Forum, Ruger has stopped production of rifles in that caliber due to poor sales. Ruger was quoted by him that "What's out there is out there". I surely hope that this is not the beginning of the end of this fine round.

Not supprised in the least, it didnt offer anything you could not get in the 260rem. I never saw it taking off nor do I see the RCMs going very far.

1+ I must agree. This or the 6.5mm Grendel. To much "purpose" built to appeal to the masses.

well I have 300 factory rounds in the 120gr GMX, guess I will save brass as I shoot

I dont know about the Grendal it offers alot in a small package and now that it has SAMMI approval it may take off. It suffers from the same handi cap the 6.8spc does however. That is there are better chambers for the same round ie the 6.5LBC exact same round barrels have diffrent chamber. The Grendal was designed around the AR system.

March 20,2012 I just got off the phone with the Ruger folks at the plant. As of now there are no plans to drop the Creedmoor. It is in their 2012 catalog.

October 12, 2013 - just looked at Ruger website, there are 4 models of the 77 bolt action available in 6.5 Creedmoor. Nothing in the No. 1 for 2013.

The thing is that the Creed is an awesome round. . Not saying the other 6.5 s aren't great also. I hope the Creed will be aroundforever and since there are several other companies are making rifles in that cart. I imagine it won't just disappear. .

I guess 300 Savage afficinados were saying the same thing about the 308 when it first came out. Ect.ect.ect.

Having written about several 6.5 Creedmoors, I agree it is a great caliber but to me so is the .260 and it is not a proprietary round. If another ammunition company comes out with the Creedmoor, then I would think it was here to stay. Ruger did come out this year with the Ruger #1V in 6.5-284. Expect an article on this rifle here soon. Len has the article. Like the Creedmoor #1V, it is a tack driver. I plan on hunting with it this deer season. When asked how long it would be available, I was told by Ruger that it all depends on sales. So if you want one in 6.5-284 Ruger#1V you better buy the first one you see. Ask your dealer to stock them will work also.

I would be more than happy if my dealer would just carry the stainless 6.5 Creed in the m77 Target, Predator and 26" barrel Hawkeye.

I know that GA Precision offers a fine looking hunting rifle in the 6.5 Creedmore.

Well it's 2015 and I just purchased the Ruger American Preditor 6.5 Creedmoor and topping it off with a Quigley-Ford 520. Hopefully the round will be around for a while. When I like a gun I normally keep it for a few years, like forever. Hopefully this will be a good whitetail round when I want to give the 20 year old M77 Stainless 7mm Mag a rest.
