I've wanted a .300 Rum for years. Having a 7mm STW though I really had no justification for getting one however.
Shortly after finding this site I found myself though invited to join some guys on an Elk Hunt next year that for me, if I go, will probably be the, "Hunt of a Lifetime" in some of the wildest and most beautiful country in the US up in Wyoming.
This got me to thinking more about the Rum and I started my search. Folks see me mention the classified section here at LRH as being a great place to "shop" because there are what appear to be some good deals, and occasionally some great deals there.
I've utilized it myself a few times and must say every transaction has been smooth as silk.

More than I could afford at the time, but I thought I'd watch it because it might be a decent starter for a Long Range .300 Rum that I could play with, customize a bit and eventually have a gun I could be confident in at 1000yds or more for that "Once in a lifetime Elk Hunt".
Mountain and I exchanged several PM's, emails and a couple of phone calls and when I had some cash come in I made him an offer. A week later I have it in hand.
To say he understated what the rife actually is in his ad is an understatement in and of itself of colossal magnitude.
To start with it's not a Sendero, it just looks like one. It came directly from the Remington custom shop before they ever made a Sendero. It came with a custom select Krieger barrel that's a slightly larger taper than the Senderos and is their best grade period.
He also told me that he'd once gotten the gun took it to a local gunsmith who is a real craftsman with long range guns and he squared and trued everything, put on a very nice brake, bedded it, and did a trigger job on it.
Well I've shot some of my clients serious custom builds and haven't had my hands on one with better craftsmanship and attention to detail. The trigger on this thing is as nice as anything I've ever pulled at about 1.5lbs and so smooth you feel nothing at all but a little pressure on the trigger finger.
Well I had a box of Remington premier 180 Sciroccos waiting for it and so when I picked it up today I headed out to the pasture to see what it'd do.
Parked the truck, dialed up what I thought would be close to 1080 with a 5mph wind and squared up on my favorite 18" white rock.
slipped one in, settle in on the mirror for a rest and touched it off.
I see my strike about 2x the width of the rock left, and about the same high and adjust.
Slipped in one more, settle in and gave it a squeeze.. . Big splat and white cloud coming from the top left edge of the rock.
Make one more minor adjustment and repeat and watch the center of the rock turn to dust.
Over the next 20 minutes I put the rest of that box of ammo in the same spot.
For a poor boy my new Long Ranger is the stuff of dreams. I haven't' shot anything so nice since I got out of the service and said good bye to my old friends who had served me so well around the world for so long.
The only thing wrong with this rifle is I enjoy shooting it so much It's going to be a real struggle not to flat burn it up just playing with it HA!
I want to thank Mountain and tell all here if he ever has anything else for sale his word isn't just good as gold, it's pure platinum lined with diamonds.
This rifle and I will have a long and prosperous life together... . I'm the first one to admit I've had a lot of just great luck in my life and finding this rifle at this time rates up there with some of my luckiest experiences of my entire life.
