I drew for a Non-resident Elk and Whitetail in Montana, and will be hunting near Darby Montana. I will be applying in the area 250 to hunt but if i dont successfully draw then i can hunt Brow-Tined Bulls on the public land near Darby. What is a Brow-Tined Bull exactly,

from my understanding its any bull that has a tine on its lower main beam larger then 4". Is this correct? so i can shoot a huge bull then?

Double check for the area you are hunting as there are different requirements for different areas. But here where I live a legal "Brow tine Bull" is like you said. It needs one tine on the lower 1/2 of the main beam they is 4" in length. and it only needs this on one side. Yes, if this is correct for your area you can shoot any bull larget too. But make sure to varify this for your area.

Broz is right on with that, I think this is a link to the ID guide. http://fwpiis.mt.gov/content/getItem.aspx?id=49452

Make sure to have the regs down pat and have a copy on you so you don't screw up!! I have to study the regs every year to keep up on them and I pack them just in case I have any doubt in my mind I can pull them out and KNOW I'm GTG.

You'll be hunting just over the pass from me :D

I'm new to this forum, so please forgive any missteps I make; but did you ever get the information you were looking for a few months back? If not, please let me know. Thanks, Darryl.
