T/C load recommendations

I'm a new guy to the forum and am looking for some advise from the vetrans. I recently picked io a T/C 50 cal pro hunter and today's results were less than I expected. I tried PR sabots 175, 195, and 350 gr with 110 gr of BH 209. They all were greater than 2.5"

After reading some of the results on the forum I know the gun can do better. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

my triumph likes 120 gr (volume) blackhorn with harvester short black sabots and 250gr sst

Try shooting a 90 gr. charge of Blackhorn 209, it's about the same as a 108 gr. charge of black powder. The bullet is the Hornady red-saboted SST 250 gr., ignited by the CCI standard 209 primers, although CCI 209Ms would probably work also.

My groups with this load are sub 2-inch @ 200 yds., and my buddy's shoots the same. My rifle is a TC Omega and my buddy has the TC Impact.

Thanks for the input from everyone. After some more bench time my gun settled in on The Scorpion Gold 260gr in front of 100gr of BH 209. The group was a little over 1" @ 100 yrds. Now I just need to try it at 200 yards.

I have an original Encore 209x50 stainless w/ 26" barrel. I spent some time shooting different charges with the .357cal 195gr Duplex Dead Centers from PR. I tried 90-120gr of BH209 and found that my best groups were at 110gr. This will shoot MOA groups at 200 yards when I do my part. Also, I was using regular Federal 209 shotgun primers for ignition. My wife has shot a sub MOA group at 200 with the same exact load out of a CVA Kodiak Mag w/ 28" barrel.

Time spent was worth it as I took a nice 6pt buck early Sat the opening day of deer season here in Va. Thanks to everyone who made recommendation on the loads for the TC

i read alot on guys not happy with the group their prohunter gets there is 5 of us that are friends all have the encore in a 50 and took awhile trying to get a lighter load to shoot and we found that heating them up and running a bigger charge reallly helped close up our groups we all shoot our best groups with 150 grs of 777 with a 250 gr sst-ml
with that load i can stack 4 or of 5 shots in the bottom of a beer can at 200 yards and have won several bets with that load.

I thought that Hodgdon stated that you had to decrease the max charge volume by 15% when using T7 versus black poweder. I know the T/C is approved for 150gr of BP, so this would translate to 127.5gr of T7 (150 x 0.85 = 127.5).

You may have looked into this and found that an expert has deemed it safe. I just wanted you to be aware that it appears to go against the manufacure's saftey warnings.

i had talked to afew guys from TC and when i went to pellets had asked and they both said that running 3 pellets was what they ran also. so if guys working at TC is shooting that load i would say it is safe. 8 years and and prob 20 of pounds of powder thru my first encore now and it still just as tight shooting as it was when i got it out of the box

i have a pro hunter encore. and recently i found a load that shoots lights out. have picture to post but can not figure out how to do it, but would email if someone really wanted to see it. i shot the black horn 209 @ 100 yards with the barns spitfire in the 185 gr. 3 shot group measured .460 center to center and you will cover all of the holes completely with a quarter.
What i did was took a 24" X 36" white board and placed 4 2" targets on it about 8" apart. first load was at 90gr shot 3 shots. next shot 3 shots @ 100gr then shot 3 shots @ 110 and then 3 shots @ 120gr. never swiped the barrel at all just loaded and shot from a bench with sand bags. and you could see the groups tighting up. and when i hit 120gr. it became a hole shooter. My next step is to cono these loads which i am sure will be at 2100 fps or greater. since i use to shoot 148 gr of triple 7 loose powder. and it shot well just did not like the fact of the grud ring that had to be removed after 3 shots or you would throw a bullet aleast by 5" one way or the other. The big thing with the 209 is clean your rifle at the end of the day when you are done. THIS is important especially the breech plug. other wise the next time you shoot you might get a hang fire. but i have never had one due to proper cleaning at the end of the day.
