are sps barrelled actions equal to cdls, etc ???

i'm sorry for the repeat post i'm sure. the search function on this site needs a little improvement.

If all you want is the action... buy one of the 700 packages from the box stores, they are running $399 blued and $450 SS. you might get back $25-50 bucks for the scope and another $50 bucks on the barrel if you sold them.

Remington actin is a remington action. Finish has little affect other than asthetics. If your going to blueprint and barrel it, find a pawnshop beater. Cerakote covers ugly.

that what i was thinking. also the pawn shop idea. no need to start with a cdl when you can start with a $300 complete gun...

what's a barreled action go for from one of the aftermarket suppliers...fairly cheap ones?

I just got a flyer form Gander Mtn. they have the Rem 700 package on sale for $349.00 if I remember right. It's a ADL and you always add bottom metal if you want, cost to true would be $200.00 thats less then $500 for a smoking action when you sell off the scope and stock.

I found my last action at a pawn shop for $250 for the complete rifle. Model 70 LA it is What my 6-06 wears.

If you have the time you can look for deals. Depending the caliber you choose I may have a custom barrel for you that could save you some $$. I just sold 3 .20 cal pacnor's.

I use the cheapest action to start with..It will be flat black when I am finished any way.
Than I went to an HS PRECISION varmit stock. All worked out great for me. Just my opinion.

The sps yeilded acceptable results for me with very little smith work. Pics and description in thread " new rig ready for first blood".

i bought a mint used one for 325 for sps adl. loved on the stock a little to get it where its acceptable for now. sighted in. shot moa at 100yds. not had time to get to regular range for some longer shooting and loads. had a project ahead of it getting more time...a tikka hunter in 300wsm
