Big Horns,040.jpg
I was out in the Big Horns of WY a couple weeks ago, hiking down a mountain toward my vehicle as it was getting dark. Off to the side in some trees I could hear cows chirping. Over the next minutes a herd of what I first thought must be at least 100 elk started passing in front of me.

Well, 5 minutes later I had counted well over 500 elk, including only about 10 or 12 bulls, nothing bigger than a few smallish 5's and 6's.

But quite an experience nonetheless. It was much later than the picture would indicate, my camera is very light sensitive at its highest ISO setting.

And another. Is it any wonder that I can't stay away for more than a few weeks at a time.

And here's one from the next morning after the elk stampede. Very poor, contrasty light but a good record shot of FIVE bull moose together.

Looking down the "elky" mountain earlier in the evening.

I stayed at the Bear Lodge Resort again, almost in sight from this vantage point. Gotta stay away from Big Mike's pies, though. Too much extra weight to carry up the mountains. That man is evil! :)

Good photos. I hope to get one of those cows in my sights soon.

Edit: Were you closer to 14 or 14A?

Wyoming the Wonderful!
I've got a picture of the Tetons on my cell to carry me over, going back in 26 days.
