I been trying to develop a load using this V-MAX bullets, but the best group I get is about 0.6" no matter what I tried, at the same time 100 gr Hornady Interlocks group 0.3"@100 and 95 gr Berger VLD like 0.13" 5 shots, I haven't played with the loads for VLD's but the worst group I got was 0.32". I just don't see why it wouldn't shoot 87gr V-Max.

My sako 243 won't shoot vmax's or amax's in any weight. Loves bergers the most and
shoots the cheap hornady 2420's Hp spires under a 1/2 inch. Guns just like what they
like. Try another bullet.

I guess I'll use them to fireform new brass. With 1:8 twist rate may barrel should stabilize bullets up to 107 gr that's max, I guess 87 gr would be the minimum weight it could handle, I shot 105gr A-Max and without load development it grouped 0.3"

There is no minimum weight. A light bullet may come apart and not reach the target
due to extreme rpm's but it's kinda rare these days.

I made 4 different loads for 5 shots each, one jamming them in to the lands, then the rest with 0.010" decrements. I didn't play with powder I loaded all with 29.6 gr of Varget, this bullets can be loaded with 31.6 gr, but it looks like 1:10 twist barrels get best results using them, that's according to 6mmbr website... Also for some reason they prefer 26" - 28" barrels and I'm plugging them into 30" tube...

here is an example 3 groups one in B and two in C shot with 87 gr V-Max, group A is done using 140 gr Nosler CC that's 6.5mm also working on that load, can't get that 260 group under 0.5" will try Scenars next time.

But for comparisons here's what 105 A-Max produced:

by spinning a bullet too fast you tend to magnify any error in the C/G. A .0001" error works out to about 3/32" increase in group size at 100 yards. Might try jamming the bullets about .010" into the rifeling as the throat with a 1:8 twist is probably set up for 105 grain bullets. I've always found 24 and 22 centerfire bullets to be sensetive to how close they are seated to the lands. I like .003" with 6mm bullets

I have a 1in8 twist 6mmbr it has a Pac nor 26" barrel,I have got both 85gr HPBT game kings and 87gr V-max to shoot in the .1's and 2's both seated 2 thou of the lands but only after I switched to N140 powder with Varget the 85's shot .25 and the V-max .40
My rifle is a rebarreled Rem 700 vssf.

I got 30" bull Criterion barrel on Savage target action, I just completed break in for it, but I was trying to develop load for it at the same time, basically it only had 60 rounds as of now, it looks like it likes 105 gr A-Max, 105 gr Barnes Match Burners, it did OK with 100gr Hornady BTSP (interlocks) and 95 gr Bergers VLD target, but nothing so far with 87 gr V-Max.

The barrel may just not like the 87 grain Vmax. I bought a box of them awhile back to try in my 6/250AI, but have not bothered to load a round with them yet. On the otherhand I'm using a 1:8 twist barrel, and it shoots the 105 Amax bullets very well

Today I loaded few rounds with 87 gr V-Max, and I set bullet 0.005" of the lands, this load performed much better, 0.507"@100 yards I also shot 95gr VLD and at 300 yards they grouped 0.78" the 105 gr A-Max was very close it grouped 0.85"@300! Also got to shoot my new barrel in 260 rem and I had few successful loads, some measured 0.1" and 0.2". As far as V-Max I think I'll stay away from them, I got so many choices which shoot great, why bother with V-Max.

Try seating the bullet about .002" off the lands. I've found every 6mm I've owned tobe sensitive to bullet jump. My 6BR likes the bullet just touching the lands, and all my 6mm Remingtons liked it tobe within .003" of the lands. The 6/250 seems to want something very similar as well. Some guys I know like to shoot the 6BR with the bullet jammed at about .010", but I think anything around .005" would work just as well.
