When it rains it pours

have you guys ever had a day on the shooting range that was an absolute nightmare? I have just had that experience yesterday. I could not hit the broad side of a barn. easy shots were missed that should have never been missed. no matter what I did the steel would not swing. misses were not by much but a miss is a miss. conditions were a little rought but definately manageable. just wanted to here some storys from you guys about days like this. I know we all have them from time to time but man they sure drop the confidence a notch. it is kind of humbling when you think you can hit anything and have proved it time and time again and then go out and hit absolutely nothing. i will definately be out next weekend building that confidence back up again. just thought it would be fun to here from you guys out there.

My nightmare day started with a language barrier between what my spotter meant and what I thought he meant.

He said right, I thought click right. Things kept getting worse. Finally, after way more than too many shots we got things straitened out between us, I clicked all the way back to where I started then clicked left the proper amount.

Clang went the 1K target. Duh!

The embarrassing part was that there were spectators and I was the only one on the firing line.

Oh, the last shot was my last round....... T'was not a good day......

I try to not have too many of those.....

I've got to the range with the intention of shooting my newly put together rifle. I get everything set up; targets, front rest adjusted, rear bag set, bullets... ready to rock-n-roll. Grab a round and set it in. Go to close the bolt and realize that I forgot the bolt on the work bench. Then my cousin shows up expecting to see me shoot. Whooops! No range day for me!

Yep today was definately one of those days for me. See my post in the reloading section, first major boo boo, and you can see the pics of what happened. Needless to say I was a little rattled about having a case come out in 2 pieces, never happened to me before. Tried to calm down with a little bit of .22 practice and couldn't even do that right. over 4" groups at 200 yrds and only about %50 hit on the 4 inch plate so I went to 100 yrds and didn't fare much better, about a 3 incher there. Went to shoot a bit of sillohete but couldn't even hit on that well enough to make me happy. Eventually I gave up and went home, figured I might as well call it quits before anything else bad happened

Anyone who's done much shooting has had the same problem. Don't let it get you down or make you start doubting yourself and equipment.

Been there, done that, usually amounts to me screwing with my equipment and not having everything in order when i head out, like loose scope rings a couple weeks ago baffling me as to why i couldnt zero a new scope! whoops!
