I heard that Lawton machinery has moved form Dillon Montana to somewhere in Wyoming
Does anyone have the latest update on whether they have settled into their new environment with their machinery and are up and running clearing their backlogs and whether they are now producing actions.
I am hearing different stories and do not know what to believe.
Can anyone shed some light on where things are at as I want to order two new actions.

Tread lightly here my freind. Lawton is VERY late on a rifle I paid for 10 months ago. I called the MT Atty Gen and the Beaverhead Sheriff today and lodged complaints. There is an ongoing investigation by the cops into Lawton..

IF I get my money back I will be buying from Stiller or schneider...Save alot of headache and do the same !!

Hi There Smokejumper1,

Thank you for your response and I must say that I have received news from other people in the "know" who have reported similar "not such good news and information" on Lawton also.
I take your advice and have already done some research into other actions. What do you know about Defiance actions and have you heard of them.

Regards

Defiance is a world class manufacturer. I give them my full 100% endorsement!!! Not only do they make great world class receivers but their customer service is top notch.

I have delt with Defiance ALOT over the last year or so and its been a pleasure at every turn.

My experiences with Defiance have been perfect. I have nothing but good to say about them and their products.

FWIW

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for that input and as you are already aware of my two Wby rebuilds mentioned in another forum I have decided not to re-use the MK5 actions for these rebuilds as I have been spoilt with building on custom actions which also provide for a better selection of triggers (jewell) and a greater variety of options which are all based upon the Remington 700 actions etc....
I was looking at using the same Lawton 8500 action that I have already used in my other 338 long range build and in my 284 Win F Class rifle.
Both of these custom builds produce exceptional and consistent accuracy.

Regards

Tony

Many Thanks to all of you for those encouraging and supportive comments regarding Defiance actions and all other input and other comments as well.

Will keep you all posted on my builds.

Can't say I know anything personally, except that there are a LOT of people on other sites complaining about money and gear they had with Lawton and haven't been able to get an answer in many months. One person who claimed to be local to their location, supposedly confirming that they have vacated their former location and that local law enforcement was involved. This is all heresy, but I think this is more than a "move".

Thanks everyone for your recommendations on the Defiance action.
I will give Lawton a wide berth at this point of time
Will be ordering two of these Ddefiance actions.

Unfortunately if you are not in state you won't be able to get much satisfaction dealing with the state guys.

Unless you can prove criminal fraud it's a civil matter and your only recourse is through the courts.

However if you paid by wire or through the mail and have proof of same you have a case through the PO or with the FBI wire fraud divisions.

Get them involved and you can get things handled very quickly.
