Does anyone here have actual experience with this cartridge, using Berger 130s or 140s ou of a 26 inch barrel? Thinking of building one to primarily hunt long distance, and like it's case efficiency.

The 6.5 Rem Mag is a good cartrige in spite of their reputation. (This was because of the rifle
that most were built on by Remington) the short barrel,vented rib doomed it .
With the right twist and a good chamber they will shoot sub 1/2 MOA and are sort of the first
short mag.
I recomend a 1 in 9 for 130 to 140 grain bullets. try the Berger's and if they dont work go to the
Accubonds and give them a try.

190s? I'm thinking you meant 7mm, but saying that, what is the biggest 6.5 bullet out there? 142s? I know Paul (Wildcat Bullets) was making some 15x + bullets for his own personal use... anyone else?

I built one on a magnum face 40X i had sitting around. Less than 100 rounds through it, but I like it allot. Very similar case capacity the the 6.5x284 and 6.5-06.
I agree with the above statement that it got a bad rap, because it was chambered in short barreled carbines when originally introduced.

The 140s averaged 2950 ft/sec and the 130s were 3150 Avg, both were with H4831.
Both loads grouped under 1/4 MOA .
It could be faster but i like to keep loads within reason.

I was shooting 51.5 grains of R-19 with a 140 gr SST and then 140 gr Nosler OTM. This is not the fastest load at 2801 fps (per the book) but it was Nosler's accuracy load. I had an issue igniting the powder with (regular) CCI primers and was getting hangfires with this powder/primer combination. So, I was only able to get a 1 inch group.
I pulled down the unfired cartridges and tried (regular) Winchester large rifle primers and CCI magnum primers. I did not go back and shoot for groups as I next shoot this rifle at a farm on steel. I had hits at 100, 200, 300 400 and back to 800 yards. Back at 800 I had a spotter zero me into the center of the plate then we shot at a quart sized jar of Tennerite. It make a hell of an explosion when hit, I was happy.

You may but that will be pretty hot load the max is
IMR-4350 53.0gr 3145 fps 26" barrel
