lost my Chocolate lab last week to cancer. He was born 9/11/01 and was a great dog. I sent texts to my buddies who have hunted with him over the years to blow there duck calls in memory. His name was Deacon but we called him Deek. There may even be a few on here who have hunted with him. Picture isnt the greatest but it is the one that I have saved on my computer here at work.

I am always sad to here about a buddy passing
and my wife is really ****ed because I just blew the hell out of a Carlson in the house .

I don't remember where I read this but it's the truth

"The sadness we feel at the loss of a dog is the price we pay for all they teach us"

hunt em up deek

Brutal !! Sorry for you and your families loss.. We know the deal, 9 to 13 years then we have to give them back to God..

I know this is early but you sound like a guy that deserves a dog in his life.. Time to get a puppy... The only thing that will stop the broken hart is puppy breath........

Sorry for your loss. If I get a chance to whack a few birds on the west side this year, Ill definately sound off on his behalf. Ill even break out my R-N-T Cocobollo for the occasion (its sentimental to me, and rarely used now a days). A good dog is a rare thing, but I agree, while you can never replace Deek, (nor would you want to), puppy breath helps ease the pain. All the work you put into a new pup just trying to make him hold a candle to the one that passed seems to help in the healing proscess and often enough that extra bit of attention leads to greatness in a huntin buddy.

Sorry for your loss. I have had 5 German Shorthaired Pointers in the last 16 years. I can't hardly stand it when I loose one. They are my only hunting buddies that never complain and are always willing to hunt just a little longer or to try just one more spot. A good dog can never be replaced but a new pup can help ease the pain. Good luck choosing a new one.

I was in no way suggesting that a new dog will replace Deek... No dog is replicable in my book.. Just trying to ease the pain.....

:D:D Chesapeake Bay Retriever ... He is 100% GO !! He would cross Polar Bear infested pack ice for a duck and not think twice about it....I have to think about his safety....

They are soft on the inside and tuff as nails in stamina....
