Need Help, I have 4, 338 win mags coming in that I have to develop loads for and sight in for a friend, 3 browning A bolts and a model 70. I dont have alot of experence loading for the 338. these rifle will be used at medium to long range, probably to 900 yards max, and mainly for elk. I usually stick with accubond, Berger Vld's and Sierra's when loading for other guns and caliber's. does anyone have a pet load for the 338 win out there? Any and all help is appreciated.

The 225 accubond shoots very well in the 338 winchester. I just got off the range and loading bullets now so I will look up some good loads for you. I have a load for the 185 Barnes ttsx at 3220 fps that is great to 800 yards in the 338 winchester if you want it.

Thanks for the help out there, just got 2 of the guns today and 1 is an X-bolt, and for once the mag length is actually longer than the chamber length ( way to go browning) should make it alot easier to find a load that shoots well out of it., once again thank you. Jay

I ended up using IMR4350 powder for the x bolt, and it is shooting great. 70 grains of 4350 a cci 250 primer winchester brass, and a 225 AB doing a cronographed 2881fps. I can put 5 shots into a 3/4 x3/4 piece of tape at 100. thanks for all the help, It gave me a starting point.
