I was flipping through the channels trying to find something worth watching tonight and came across a show call "A Hunter's Life" highlighting Larry Weishuhn. I don't watch hunting shows as much as I used too because everybody and their brother has one now and they are getting ridiculous. However, I have watched Larry's hunting shows since I was a kid and he seems to be a pretty likeable guy that promotes the positive aspects of hunting (he doesn't whack'em and stack'em like some TV personality idiots). However I believe even Mr. Whitetail himself has fallen to the wayside. In this show he is elk hunting with a guide and a trophy bull pops up 25 yards in front of them standing broadside. This fool starts trying to set up his Bog-Pod tripod with shooting attachment and the bull looks at him like he's an idiot and runs out to about 50yards and watches him fumble fart around trying to set that stupid tripod up. I was thinking to myself "Just shoot the d@mn thing you idiot!" and apparently must have really yelled it because my wife got on to me! He ends up getting it, no doubt because he had that fine piece of equipment.
The first thing I thought of was Sponsered by Bog-pod. Come on Larry, not you too.

As proud as I am of my children, neither their conception or birth is recorded on film. Some things are best left personal and private. I've always felt the same way about hunting video's/TV shows. Add the element of sponsors and things can really get out of touch with reality.
On the plus side (if there is one) they showed him fumbling with the Bog-Pod, with all the "editing" that can be done they didn't have to.

Hey Bravo 4, sounds like you are back home, good to see you back on the board here.

I'm with you on the hunting shows. People assume I watch those things because I am a shooter and hunter. I watch about as many hunting shows as I do football games....... make that one or two a year. Most of the shows have become just what you saw, a 30 min or 1 hour commercial for whatever gear the "hunter" is using. No thanks.

And I especially like it when the "hunter" has the barrel of their rifle pointed squarely in the back of the guide. Drives me nuts.................and I see it ALL the time.

My favorite (VERY SARCASTIC) on many shows is when they show the shooter cycling the bolt after the shot and no shell ejects, but a new one feeds in from the magazine. It happens all the time on Best of the West and was annoying me so bad I won't even watch it anymore.

The only ones I watch with any regularity are the Jim Shockey stuff, Tracks Across Africa and Expedition Safari.

How about that dumb rubber "barrel deresonator" some of the "professionals" are hawking?

Thanks, good to be home for a change and hang out with the family.
Still trying to get that .308 AR lined out, thinking of rebarreling. But that's another story...

I agree with the your assessment on the hunting shows, and the football games.
