Oehler 35 $$$$$

Hi all,

I am starting a new thread here about prices for a used Oehler 35 Chonograph.

I have found 2 used units and the numbers are way up there

Would like to know what I should expect to pay for a discontinued Chono?

Called Oehler and the 35 "Was" $345.00 W/printer. I hate to say what the price is for the two units I've seen for sale as I do not want to unduly influence what you guys think? I will let you all know once I hear some opinions. Thanks in advance.

I was in your boat a couple years ago and decided to buy the CED M2 instead of the inflated prices I was seeing.

If I had one, I'd want at least $500 for it, probably more. It all depends what the market would bear.

the oehler 35 at $500 is being snapped up real fast in most cases. I have seen them bring $750-800.

I have seen them go for $7-800. I have used a 35 before and now have a CED M2. I wish I had a 35 now because I would sell that devil in a heartbeat

The M2 is very nearly if not just as good a piece of equipment IMO.

I've got a mint condition 35P. If someone offers me $700-$800 for mine I'm gonna have a real hard time holding on to it.

I just wrangled another 35p for $500 plus change and $40 for shipping. Worth every penny if that's what the market is. There were a few 35's on ebay for around $450 a few weeks ago but they were next to impossible to get and were gone in a flash.

It seems if I want an Oehler 35, I will have to pony up. I do not mind spending the money as long as I know the going rate

The prices seem to fall in line with what I have been seeing except fo one guy. He wanted 1K, he will probably get it but not from me. I'm in no hurry, just need to find a unit that has been well taken care of.

Not trying to be qute but I want to ask. I am in the market for an "accurate" chronograph. How does one tell it is accurate? Do you have a way of testing them to be sure the given velocity is correct?

Bros,

I know this has been hashed over and over on this forum. As serious as you are with your shooting, you really need to buy the Oehler! With the proof channel you get two readings. I do not think there is anything more accurate than having one of these for the average guy anyway.

I would be willing to bet that if you get an Oehler, you would like it about as much as your rangefinder and Bergers . Ok, maybe not that much but you know what I mean.gun)

a buddy of mine has one, and we often had both chronographs setup side by side. The difference was virtually nil. (usually about 5 or 6 fps at 3500fps) If one threw out a round the other did as well. Which one was right with the 5 or 6 fps difference? One wouldn't know. The real hassel with the Ohler is in the setup. Their mounting system sucks on a good day, but there is a solution for that. You can buy the Square Peg mounting system, and be setup in ten minutes like the Pact. Of course it'll set you back about $300. I got tired of constantly waiting on Doug to get everything lined up, and talked him into a better setup. I built it for about $75, and it works a hundred times better than the factory mount. I used the optional factory light bar that Pact sells ($25), and carried two torpedo levels in my bag.

Thanks Gary. I have two shooting chrony's and shoot with them in line too. Problem is they are 25 to 40 fps different. So I bought a Pact about a year ago and messed with it for a day and it never read one shot out of about 30 rounds. I sent it back. So, I plan to buy an Oehler, and I appreciate you letting me know about the set up.
