I had a 338 Lapua built last year and I shoot 1k -1200 regularly. I have a 24" gong I had built and my goal is to get some hits on it at 1 mile+ Just wondering how far do you guys shoot and how big of target. I am hoping to try out the mile shot later this week

That sounds like some serious fun... I made a human silhouette for a 1K setup but that's as far as I've been, I was playin around at 550 yesterday with my 6-284

Outlaw,

did you get any tags this year? I didnt get jack crap other than a late season whitetail tag. looks like ill be spending my time playing at long range not hunting for big bucks and bulls.

Yessir I did, Got my (gimme) 'lope tag for the family ranch (where the above pic was taken) & drew a cow elk tag for the Kern's Wildlife Management Area in area 38 up next to the MT border. Deer will be OTC, probably on my hunting partner's ranch, should be a good year!!

I get out about once a month and let the lead fly with my 300wsm. Usually out to 1k with a target that is 10"w 14"t. And the farthest I have made hits so far is at 1250yrds with my 300rum on a 18"x18" target.

I have a range outside of Denver (CRC) that I can only shot paper out to 1k. Very nice range with wind flags and pit.

When I shoot steel, I go to a friends ranch in Wyoming. It is 18 miles North of Cheyenne. About an 1 1/2 from home. I generally take my camper and UTV and spend the weekend shooting. I have shot out to 1,350 yards on this ranch but was in a hurry as it was close to hunting season.

In the process of working up a load with the Gen II 300 grain Bergers. Hope to really stretch it out this summer on the Wyoming ranch. We have 18,000 acres to play around on.

Mike, how far are you away from Cheyenne? Maybe we could meet up and do some shooting.

Ray

im way up by cody so 4 or 5 hours i think, we could put together an early season (september) long range doe hunt. thats one of my favorite things to do to kick the season off. we have tons of additional deer and antelope tags up here.

I don't know about that Mike, I'm about 4-4.5 hrs from Cheyenne & it's a straight shot. I'd guess you'd to be about 6 or so... I guess that isn't as far as I thought!

It is windy all the time where I shoot in Wyoming. Kinda like it though, Get a lot of good practice reading the wind.

I have two Doe tags for lope-a-goats but might be able to get a third for up North. Will P.M. you if I can make it.

please do a couple of us go out its a blast, last year our "annual day of death" we killed 11 animals out to 950 yards

LMAO! I almost spit my energy drink all over the screen.. Glad to hear there is a "day of death" on your side of the state as well... our best is 7 in 45 mins.:D
