Why does it surprise people by now, that Savages shoot?
That's plenty over 1/2moa, & with a little work, better still wouldn't surprise me.

I agree with Mike. I have known several gun and outdoor writers over the years and - generally - they are prone on occasion to some exaggeration. Most of the equipment which is featured in their epics is on loan from the manufacturer. For this favor, they are sometimes beholden to them, and little if any criticism is expected. So, every time I read one of these articles, I take it with a grain of salt until proven accurate or not.

Layne Simpson by chance? The only roadtest I pay much attention to is my eyes looking over another guy's shoulder when he pulls the trigger. I've seen just about every brand name shoot well at one time or another, and of course I've seen some real duds.

I think some brands have been traveling on their namesake for many years, and their chickens came to roost about ten or twelve years ago.

Well, mine isn't straight out of the box, but all I've done is a barrel swap and I couldn't be happier. I was convinced I had a shooter when I was consistently smacking steel at 1K+ with less than 100 rounds of trigger time, which included load development and zeroing. All the evidence I needed.

The model 12 F-Class I had shot .6542 moa at 1k at the Whitehorse range in Buchannon, WV with very unpleasant conditions. Yes a 6.542" 5 shot group with 18mph 45* wind at 1k box stock rifle, EGW base, Warne rings, and a 12-42x56 NF. Most Savages I've seen are tack drivers or don't take much to get them there, but like any company you can get a dud occasionally.

No disrespect intended.... But, 6.542" at 1k with an 18mph wind is only partially attributable to the rifle. The ammo and particularly the shooter are a huge part of that.

I can't quite do that on a good day with my 12F although it's a fine shooter.

OK, I have doubts, since I got LRP and out of the box it shot 1.5 MOA. LRP that's Savage Target series which supposed to be supper accurate, but not what I got, well I send it back to Savage, they told me it needs new barrel, now its been 3 weeks since they told me about barrel, but they can't make one for it. I bought it because all of that hype about accuracy etc, so far I haven't seen any.

Well, sorry about that, thought you were saying I was lying, I shot in 3 relays that day 6.542", 8.054", and 13.221". Jinx the barrels on the savage pta's in 24 and 26 cal are finicky, they copper foul real easy, about every 40 rounds and carbon foul every 20 or so, idk how many times you shot yours but they will start slinging em when this happens. J&B and Copper Killer are good investments, I may have already mentioned that to you. My model 12 would shoot sub cal groups at 100yrds consistently.

I see how it could be taken that way. But, I was just trying to point out that it takes a lot more than an accurate rifle to accomplish that.

I can understand your frustration but I think your situation is the exception rather than the rule.
