Last night was an interesting hunting adventure! I was setup as an airstrike cordinator from a good vantage point where I could see lots of country and my friends were in a location to capitalize on a sighting.
Shortly after glassing I spotted a good bear below my friends position. They made a stalk and an attempt at engaging the bear. From my position the bear had moved behind some trees so I could not see exactly where the bear had gone. They could not locate the bear from their spot either. We were not sure if the bear was still there or had winded us. Since no bear sighting by them or me, they headed back to their truck. I continued to glass and soon spotted another bear in a different area. They rushed over and got into a shooting position but from their location had trouble seeing the bear in the spot that I could see it from. While we were all glassing in hopes of them being able to see the bear from where they were, I checked back a few times for the first bear to make another appearance.
As luck would have it the first bear appeared again! Once I told them he was out, I was told later it was total chaos as they threw all their gear and bodies in the truck and raced back for the first bear. I was freaking out because the 1st bear I had just seen started to move around and went back behind trees and thought our chance may be gone. The good news is that when they arrived to get in position at the first bear he was out in the wide open. They pulled out the "Reaper" and dialed the gun up for 855 yards. The conditions were perfect and once the bear turned broadside the "Reaper" sent a 300 SMK and dropped the bear in his tracks! Congrats Jeremy on a great shot and bear. That was a lot of fun, even from far away! It is nice when a plan comes together.
