I have one of the original Tikka M695 in .270 other than having it bedded and adjusting the trigger its stock. I am hoping to lighten it up for backpack trips it weighs in right now around 8 pounds or so scoped. Can anyone recommend anyone for fluting the barrel or someone who would be able to skeltonize the bolt? thanks

Be aware of the risk of loss in accuracy of a finished barrel being fluted. I have done this with good results and also one case where accuracy was lost. I now have my barrels fluted before they are final lapped. If you do have it done I would rcommend also having it stress relieved by either cryogentics or nitride treatment.

I would not do this to a factory tube. The odds of accuracy loss by the removal of metal on the finished tube is very real.

+1

Personally I doubt it's worth the cost.
