I am considering buying a Nightforce NXS 3.5-15x50 F1 for my long range hunting rifle. My primary application is big game hunting, though I plan to spend a lot of time on the range in between hunting seasons. I am inclined to go for a mil-radian based reticle. Looking at the various types of reticles that Nightforce has on offer, I wondered if any one on here could tell me what they prefer and why? I 'think' I'm inclined towards the MLR2, but could easily be swayed to one of the others.

I wanted to get away from the Mil Dot reticle, and that is all they had at the time. If i get another scope it will be mil/mil. I find ranging with the hash marks to be more accurate for me over ranging with Mil Dots. I've got the 2.5/10x32 mostly used for p dogs and coyotes.

I don't know if its been discussed on any threads, but I'm looking forward to seeing how folks respond to the new Velocity hunter reticles being advertised on Nightforces site. I just got a Colorado moose application refund and am thinking it needs spent on something hunting related. I currently have a S&B scope and wouldn't mind moving over to something like the 5.5-22x NXS. If anyone has any insider info on these reticles, I'd like to hear to it...

I have 3 NfX 5.5x 22 NPR-1 and like very much. Im not in to mil dont understand it and dont care to. As far as ranging i use a Leica 1600

I've read good things about the Leica 1600 and it's on a very long wish list... probably by the time I get one there'll be a new model out. I am very interested in a mil based type reticle even if I do get a range finder because I want to be able to do hold overs and windage adjustments on the fly. I have been swapping messages with another user on these boards which has been very helpful in wading through the many options with Nightforce. I'm inclined towards the MLR2, but am currently looking at some of the other variants.

I have a NPR-1 on this 3.5-15x 22-250 1:8 and intend to switch it to one of the Velocity reticles ASAP since it's a coyote rig and therefore i want a system that is possibly intuitive but if not can simply be calcd. (for rangefinding too)--

I have NSX's 5.5-22x with both the NPR1 and the NPR2 and like them both. I have not tried the others, but these two work very well.
