help 7mm RUM sendero no accuracy

hi guys i was woundering if anyone cauld help me/ I recently purchased a new in box rem 7mm rum sendero. and toped it off with a leupold 8.5 x 25 lr . I bought the gun with the hopes of taking adwantige of the VLD bullet from either berger of the hornady a- max in 168 grn or 162 i have tried everything i can do to get either of these bullets to shoot accuritly with not alot of luck best group @ 100 1.25 and i know that these bullets need a little time to sleep but still sub par at longe range .this gun has so much free bore i cant get a bullet to touch the rifelings i just purchasd a box of hornady sst and am going to try them also oh i loaded some 140 nosler btips 7 shot .75 @ 100 but hope fully dont have to shot them or i might as well have just bought a regulare 7 mag any help would be greatly apprechated or of anyone has had this problem whats the solve thanks

Certain rifles don't like certain bullets so you have to find a bullet that they like.

It sounds like you have already found a bullet style that it likes.

Don't sell the Ballistic tips short they work well at long range and the Accubond does very well.

Don't fight the free bore and load standard length rounds with standard ogives. (The SMKs have
the same ogive and have a proven track record).

Try. 150 off the lands, try the OCW load testing method, try a couple different powders. Is your barrel broken in? do you clean your weapon after every range session with agressive copper cleaners? If not do so. I have purchased 10 new rifles in the last 3 years. Everything from Weatherby SVM22/250,CZ550 375H&H, 300 Weatherby, Remington 30/06, and on and on. Every one of these weapons required a break in period before they would settle down and shoot. I would go to the range and shoot two or 3 rounds, twidle the dials on my scopes and go home dissappointed and disgusted with my groups on every one of my rifles. I would take em home and clean em with an agressive copper cleaner such as WipeOut. Reload some rounds and head back to the range and shoot some more. Get disgusted with my groups again go home and its the same thing all over again. After shooting 50 -100 rounds or more out of each rifle I noticed that the groups in all my rifles without fail suddenly and mysteriously tightened right up to SUB MOA at 100. It was then that I did the OCW method of load testing. You can find it just by googling OCW Load Testing. I have a feeling that if you undertake the above exercise you rifle will shoot tight. my 7mm rem mag snedero is not finnicky at all. the BIG groups from a 140 nosler partition .8". the rest from 140 acubond , 140 berger, 168 berger , 139 horn and 140 balistic tip form .1 to .7.

You have a good Rifle in the 7RUM no question there . They are super accurate , it's not the Rifle . I have one and it's my Rifle of choice . When I'm at a range with it so is my Sweets 7.62 . I may shoot three rounds let it cool then clean it well with the 7.62 and it stays on point that way . Some rifles you may be able to shoot more before letting it really cool down and I'm sure some shooters wait until they get Home until they clean out that barrel . I'm not one of them I clean it out between each 3 shot group and it will get 1/4 inch groups at a hundred yards . It loves long range it will hit targets way out there . Work out the issue with your Rifle . Do you have it Pillar bedded and or glass bedded ? Are you posititve there is no contact between barrel and stock ? What about scope , rings and bases ? All that can be a factor with any Rifle . I won't need more than one shot which is why I practice that "first shot" kill so much , as like most hunters . Some may not want to go to the trouble of cleaning a Rifle Barrel at the Range , Me I don't mind a bit and it works as far as accuracy goes . It works for my Big 7 and I'm sure it would work for yours as well . Try it and good luck .

my factory Remington bdl 7 rum shot the 160 acubonds the best and @ max mag length of aprox 3.680

First be sure your stock is torqued to specs. Rem says 45 in/lb HS Precision IIRC says 55 in/lb

I would suggest you try the 180 or 168 hybrid instead of a VLD. I have found that more rifles will shoot them even with a substantial jump to rifling.

You never mentioned powders.

After I typed that, I almost left "He's probably either got it figured out or sold it by now..." But I decided to edit that out. Figured some of the more "PC" members might get their panties in a wad. LOL

Being a 7RUM, good chances are he's probably worn 2 barrels out by now. LMFAO!

Good evening. I have a Rem 700 Sendero also in 7 mag. I shoot the 168grn Berger VLD with no complaints. I have done nothin to it but put a scope on it. It has a Tasco SS from SWFA. It's just the fixed 10 power model so that hurts accuracy. I can't see the bullseye. I just line the cross hairs in the scope on the paper and I can get a 5 shot group just over 1/2". Not quit .75" group but just over .5" group. I use 72grns of Retumbo powder. Now this is a hot load so be careful!!! Berger Reloading Manual says Max Load is 71.2. But that is for standered length. Which is ( COAL - 3.290" )Deep in the casing. I'm seating mine long. Deep in lands. So the pressure changes allowing me to use more powder without raising my pressure.( How I worked up my load. )I started with 66grns and worked my way up to 72grns at 1/2 grain intervals. Here is my loads. 66grn- 66.5grn-67grn-67.5grn-68grn-68.5grn-69grn-69.5grn-70grn-70.5grn-71grn-71.5grn-72grn-72.5grn-73grn-73.5grn. I stopped there cause it started show pressure signs. Now here is a great test to see what load is more accurate for you. Sight the rifle at 300yrds with some bullets you all ready have done. Then with the data I just gave you for your new reloads. Shoot each bullet at the bullseye without making any adjustments. But every time you shoot don't forget to right down on the target what grn powder was shot. Do this to every bullet. There should be a pattern with a few bullets in the same Vacinity. Some will be way high others way low. Don't worry about if you hit the bullseye just the bullets that are really close to each other. Pick the 2 or 3 loads that are closest and load 5 rounds each and see which one groups better at 100yrds. That will give you an accurate load. Sorry so long!!!! Hope this helps. It's worked with every gun I own. More than 1.

You must have a rem mag? For a hot load with 71grns?
