I have a new winchester mod. 70 300 wsm. The trigger should be adjustable by the owner. The adjustment screw is covered with epoxy. Can anyone tell me the best way to remove the glue to get to the screw???
I don't know if it's the same stuff that used to come on Remington triggers or not, but if it is; an O-ring pick or dental type pick takes if off easily.

Be aware that most, if not all manufactures are using trace elements in there trigger adjustment
screws seals with all of the lawsuits being filed and once you remove it it relieves them of any
liability because it has been tampered with and they cane prove it.
They set there triggers at a safe weight for the design of there trigger and to satisfy there lawyers.
I would recommend buying an aftermarket trigger that is designed to be adjustable and leave the
factory trigger alone, if you cant live with the Winchester trigger.
They feel that most people will do it anyway and it is to keep people from turning screws to see
what happens. I recommend "NEVER" adjusting the sear engagement and most of the triggers
that are causing problems have been adjusted because they did not know which screw to adjust
and which screw is the weight adjustment.Hence the owners manual.
They don't care if you adjust it as long as they are in the clear. And as shortgrass said it sales
rifles.
So if you do adjust the trigger make sure you are on the right screw, and don't try to go to 8 oz
at first start at 2.5 to 3 pounds and stay there for awhile and see if you can live with it. I set all of my Jewell triggers at 2.2 pounds and they are plenty light (Almost to light for hunting).
