Remington question

I have an opportunity to possibly aquire a remington XR-100 in 223, i did a little research on them and they seem like a pretty cool rifle. would be a good platform for a varmint rifle build down the road. My question is, does anyone have experience with them? what actions is it? i think its the same action thats in the xp-100 handgun isnt it? and isnt the xp-100 a remington 600? or am I mistaken? any info would be very appreciated.

The orginal single shot XP-100 pistol was last made 1994 they made a very limited run of XP-100R that was a repeater pistol in 1998 that is the same action as a model 7 also the orginal XP-100 you could only use a one-piece scope base. The XP-100R and model 7 you can use one or two piece base.

I've never seen the X-P 100 rifle that Remington made but it was a single shot and that rifle only had a 2yr run and I would think that rifle is off the model 7 action.

Don't know anything about XP-100 or XR other then what Wikipedia has to say... TC Contender put them out of business. So I would get Contender over XP . Maybe few years from now you can buy Rem 770 as a cool relic ;-)

It's probably a shooter, but you have to consider if there are aftermarket parts, thing is it was produced during the years when Remington quality control wasn't at its best ;-)

I have a XR-100 223, these guns are target guns w a 40x trigger and barrel, mine will shoot a one hole group at 100yrds all day, If u can get one id grab it because they are hard to find here , iv never seen another one.

I have an xr-100 rangemaster in 22-250 26" heavy. 40x trigger. Single shot. Good shooter. Haven't gotten into handloads for yet, but enough brass and am gearing for it. I have a one piece leupold base with a 6.5 -20x40 vh. My buddy has same thing but only diff is his has a two piece base.
