I am going to order one of these two rifles in 260rem and want to know if anyone can tell me if there is any advantages of one over the other. I know the predator has a 2" shorter barrel and weighs a couple pounds less, but I wonder if it has a target crown like the 12 LRP? Has anyone shot both of these that can give me any insight to the accuracy differences? I tried the Savage shooters forum but got 0 responses.

I wouldn't expect any difference in accuracy. I'd pick the LRP for the barrel length and stock. The LRP has the light weight trigger too, which might be a selling point if you like the accutrigger. As far as I know Savage only uses two styles of crown, one for the sporter weight barrels and one for everything heavier, but the style doesn't matter as long as it's properly cut.
I recently got my Mod 10 Predator Max1 in .243. Had it at the range only once to sight in. Used 80 Rem Core Lokt. Nothing special. That is, until I was getting under .5" three shot groups at 100 yds. Can't wait to try ammo with a better BC and further out.

I don't know much about the mod 10 in .260 at least, but I can tell you your going to have a really hard time finding anything on the mod12 lrp in .260 due to savage only having released them at the beginning of this month. I've had my eyes on it since I first saw it on their website and had one on order since december, they just made the first shipment and I got mine yesterday. It does have the target trigger group, I thought it was a target action as well but my understanding all the target models were single shot only and I have a mag. Any ways it seems to be a very well built rifle, unfortunately I didn't plan ahead very well and forgot to order a base too. Hoping to get to the range next week for some break in 
. I am by no means an expert on lr shooting but I did a ton of research on the .260 and to get the fps I want at the ranges I want 26" is minimum, hoping for an 800 yard dear gun. If your just shooting paper or varmits 24" would be ok, but if your hoping to extend your range for slightly larger game I'd recommend the model 12 if you can find one.

I have a predator in 223. It shoots factory hornay 40grain vmax at 3/8 groups at a 100 and hand load 69 smk's 3/8 at 200. Worst thing is cheap flimsy stock. But still shoots lights out. I would still go with lrp for extra barrel length and stock.

I own the predator max1 in 243. just recently had it reamed out to the AI version. the only ammo I've put through it so far has been the 58gn. VMAX hornady superformance, which it was shooting 5 shot groups right at an inch at 250 yds. Either way, I think you'll be happy
It sounds like youre pretty well sold on the 260 Rem. And so was I until very recently. I've been doing nothing but research for a great long distance, low recoil caliber and was about to pull the trigger on the Savage 12 LRP in 260. But the recent results from the Sniper's Hide Shootout, and recent videos and threads have really opened my eyes to the incredible performance from the 6.5 Creedmoor...IN FACTORY AMMO! Not only did the 6.5 Creed take top honors and runner up at Sniper's Hide, (it also placed 4th and 7th) but both shooters did so with factory loaded hornady ammo! That got my attention real fast. And i started looking for everything and anything related to this caliber. I found videos of a couple guys shooting out in the deserts of Nevada at incredible ranges for what i thought was a 1000yd limited caliber. This guy was shooting his at 1 mile...ACCURATELY. His buddies .308Win couldn't make a solid hit at this range but the Creedmoor did it twice. I know exactly what I'm about to purchase, a Savage 12LRP in 6.5 Creedmoor! gun)

Most surely will do, its driving me crazy just having it sit there and not be able to shoot it! I will say that with the 26" tube its pretty front end heavy. As for the above comment, I looked at the creed a bit too but I cant find factory ammo in any of my local retail stores from independents to outdoorsmans wearhouse and or Cabelas. Whereas I was able to find at least one factory offering at each place in .260 and as far as I know its relatively easy to make brass from a number of calibers if you cant find any, and with lapua releasing brass for the .260 this month.... Again my personal choice, honestly hard to go wrong either way. I will say I think the H-S stock and target action is a great start and being a savage you can always throw on a new tube with relative ease if you don't like the caliber's performancelightbulb

Interesting, I thought with the neck design of the Creed that it would have at least as good if not better barrel life. Why would the 260 have better barrel life?
