I got new Savage catalog, where I saw this model in 260 rem. Going to Savage website I had confirmed they do exist... I always wanted to get my hands on 6.5mm, this .264 bullets are amazing!!! Does anyone had experience with this Savage? Any thoughts on the HS precision stock and their bedding system? Does it requires skin bedding? It shows 1:8 twist, just wonder how heavy bullets can it accurately push? What bullets does it like? Thanx

I can't help on the 12LRP . They must be a new model . I do have three model 12 BVSS and they all shoot really well.
I am having a Shilen select match built in 260 as we speak in 1:8 twist . I'm targeting 140 gr. A-max as the bullet of choice. The A-max has shot well in everything I have tried it in ( 208's in 300WinMag, 178's in 300WSM , 105's in 243 and 80's in 22-250).

8 twist, but they actually shot well in a 1:9 twist model 12 Low Profile Varminter also.

Thanks...I'm seriously contemplating ditching the 270 barrel I have on one of my actions and replacing it with a 9 twist 22-250 VLP takeoff.
Launching a 75gr A-max @ 3200fps+ seems like it'd be rather cost-effective paper/steel shooting out to 500m (compared to my 260) and play hell on any varmints I might put in the crosshairs...

I have a Rem 700 MTN LSS that is a dream to hunt whitetail with, and since I'm a recoil sissy
, beats me up a LOT less than a 270 or 30-06 which means I practice a lot more.Funny thing is I've been hunting with this rifle LONG before I heard it was getting popular in practical long-range shooting circles; I liked it because it was "different" and accurate and only later started learning about ballistic coefficients & all that.
This winter I put a 8-twist 26" varmint contour CBI barrel on another Savage 110 I had. Haven't taken it beyond 100yd yet as I'm still doing load development (and waiting for 123gr A-max to come back in stock) but its a pussycat to shoot.

So you guys think this Savage LRP in 260 rem is worth getting it? About custom 260 in 1:8 twist, are you serious about components shortages for .264 caliber bullets, I checked Midway and Cabelas and it looks like they all on back-order... There are some Lapua and Norma bullets with high B.C but for practice shooting feels like waste of money...

Yeah, I think the .260 LRP would be a fine option for a quality factory rifle; quality HS stock, 8 twist for heavy bullets, target action, target Accutrigger.
Lapua .260 brass should be available by the end of this month, but the Nosler .260 brass I have is working out GREAT so far. Norma has expensive brass but I assume its good, R-P brass seems to be hit-or-miss. Also, a lot of folks simply neck up 243 or neck down 7mm-08 brass which is as easy as a single run through a FL die.
264 bullets aren't hard to come by, its just that 6.5mms are all the rage these days and lots of folks shoot Hornady A-Max because of their price point relative to Berger VLDs & Scenars, so they are often out of stock. The 123gr A-Max is probably the worst in terms of availablity, as its BC is a fair bit higher than the 120gr A-Max but you don't lose any velocity with it.
Midway looks to be out of stock, but Midsouth has both 120gr & 140gr .264 A-Max in stock.
Sierra Matchkings .264s aren't THAT much more than the Hornady A-Max and are (a little) easier to find, but depending on where you buy & what quantity, the Nosler Custom Comp 140gr HPBT is a great value.
Hornady also has a 140gr HPBT bullet on the way to complement the A-Max line which should be available in a couple months, and look to be priced quite reasonably as well.
How about Nosler Custom Competition 140 gr bullets are they any good? I bought 1000 of them for 308 once and end up breaking them in to 10 or more different groups, weight was allover, then length and ogive... How about 308 brass, had anyone tried to resize it to 260 specs or is it to much of the hassle? I have few hundreds of lapua cases from 308. If I would neck turned them to 260 thickness then run them through 260 FL or Neck sizing die, would it work?

Can't speak for the 6.5mm Noslers as I haven't used them...but some folks on Sniper's Hide who have seem to like them okay when compared to SMKs.
