1:9 and if really want to put some english on it 1:8.

Depends a bit on your conditions and the size of the cartrige.

The 1-9 has been working in most of the magnum cartriges.

I have a couple of f-classers shooting the 180 hybred with 8.7 and 8.8 twists in straight 284 winchesters and the accuracy is excellent.

I like your approach...
1:8 twist with lots of English..
..buck facing left with his head up and a right to left wind
Shoot for the heart and let the spin drift give you access to the whole neck line if you're too conservative with the wind call. gun)
