Ok fellow members, I have a dilemma, I am at the pointy end of purchasing my new scope for my 338 EDGE.

These are the scopes I want nothing else, so experience using any of these models would be helpful in making my decision, thank you in advance.

Also reticle choices if you want I will mainly be dialling.

Ranges out to 1000 meters

Zeiss Victory FL Diavari 6-24x56 T*FL
March Tactical 2.5-25x42
Premier 5-25x56

bbw,

Thanks for that I think I may save some weight and dollars and settle with the March, he ranked it with the S&B and Hensolt so thats plenty good enough here.

Am waiting on my price for the Zeiss, so it better be a good one......

If there's anything negative (at least for me) with the March scopes is that it has no lifetime warranty, IIRC 5 years only (unless it has recently changed) and I'm not sure of it's transferability. If you do have a problem who can fix it? Kelbly (http://www.kelbly.com/), or a trip back to Japan? ;)

For that kind of money I'd expect a lifetime warranty, and repair service within the CONUS.
Just my 2-pence for your thoughts.

March scopes are quite possibly the best scope at any price. They are way over engineered, and are known for their top-quality Japanese glass and their perfect tracking.

The 5-year warranty is not a real issue, because Deon (http://www.deon.co.jp/march/) will fix or replace the scope as long as they exist as an ongoing concern. The only reason that the warranty is capped at 5-years is due to Japanese law, which takes into account the size of a company when capping their warranty terms. Deon is not a huge company, so they are capped at an unreasonable 5-years for their written warranty. A large company like Nikon would be allowed to publish a lifetime warranty. Deon will stand behind their product, no matter what Japanese law forces them to put on paper.

I have settled on the March Tactical 2.5-25x42..........best tracking out there, and the Aus distributer will warrant them for as long as you own it, he said he wants it back if it craps itself new scope no questions.

Check out the aussie thread "Just order my 338 EDGE" for updates and pics when it is all finished gun)

I'll hijack a little here if I may.

We hear about your firearm laws here. My question is are you allowed to keep your arms in your home or have to keep them locked up at a club and do they have to be registered?

Thanks.

the problem is being even able to look at one. their website isn't the greatest and living in utah good luck being able to see one.

Joseph,
we are allowed to keep our firearms in our homes, in gun safes of course, and yes we have to register every firearm with the state police. We are fairly free to do what we want with them.

I am glad for you I thought it was a lot more strict.

Nah mate, we are free to do what we want, the only thing that happens every now and then is a random firearms check, where the police come around to your home to check everything is ok.

Mind you we have a lot of fellow hunters that want certain rifles banned, which is not a good thing I am talking about the long range setups a certain organisation ADA has a few lippy people in there that get very jealous about our rigs.

I guess we have it made where I live. Own what you want, and only register it and background check when you buy from a dealer only. Buy or Sell to your buddy or stranger and don't worry about it, no checks. STOP the D#$n anti's. vote REP.

I have read a lot of good reports about the March scopes and have been looking for reviews on the tracking but haven't really found anything. Where did you get the info to lead you to believe they are the best out there? Would love to read up on that.

I would personally rate Premier at the top for tracking but I don't have experience with March or the upper end Zeiss products.

The March scopes are without a doubt the best racking scope out there. The optics are second to none.I have a article coming out on here this month where i shot a Bull Elk in Idaho at 905 yards with a March 5-32x52 with MTR-1 reticle.I have a 5-50X56 With the Mtr 1 reticle on the way.
