Anybody own a Savage model 16 FHSAK weather warrior in a 300 WSM? I am looking seriously at one and just want to know what everyone else thinks of them. Thanks!

Savage Arms Firearms > 16 FHSAK

I really like the rifle, but a few things to consider are it being a short action limiting future builds, and what are it's intended use(s)? If it's for deer, I'd suggest the same caliber but in a 7mm, and elk I'd suggest a 338 caliber. This particular rifle is awesome though.

Here's the long action version:

Here's a list of what the letter codes mean:

all the bloody savages are pretty much short actions. thats the only reason remington is a better seller. if thay had 300 wm in most of there rifles every one would consider them.

Savage makes plenty of long action rifles. And, they make more than a dozen models/variations chambered in 300wm. As for the 300 WSM, I think most factory rifles are chambered for the short action.

Remington is popular because they make a good product as does Savage which is also popular.

l was talking about the the 12 series and the target series. all are short actions. sendero on the other hand is 7mm rem mag. 300 win mag, and ultra mags !!!!! so are other companys target and varmit guns most have atleast a 300 WM. amongst their models!!!!!! (TİKKA,REM,SAUER,BLASER,SAKO,STAYER..... SAVAGE no!!!!!!) dont get me wrong the savage is a great gun but the fact is that puts them way down the considering line for many hunters.

You can call Savage and order a long action in a heavy barrel if you want. They will do a custom set up. It will cost a little more, but still less than a Sendero. They use to make one called the 112 BVSS. They don't make it as a production rifle, but you can still order one through the factory direct.
