My scale is off a little, can i fix it?

rcbs 5-10 scale seems to be about .2gr off. I zero it, level it, then add a known 100 weight, and it needs to be set .2 over to balence...can this be fixed at home? Thanks

Are you certain that the check weight is dead on? Reason I ask is that I've seen them vary a little bit. And even with a 100 grain weight .2 is very small

my rcbs digital scale reads it dead on at 100...actually my cabelas digital scale does also

Few of us EVER bother to use a check weight on a scale, partly because there is really nothing we can do about it anyway. But .2 gr. error at 100 isn't much even if your test weight is right on.

Great accuracy is nice to have but, fact is, we really don't need high absolute accuracy for quality reloading; what we MUST have is high consistancy/repeatablity. If your scale repeats that reading everytime you check it, it's doing fine. Any load you develop with your scale that will always be repeated later is all you really need.

I sure wouldn't be concerned about it. Keep your scale's knives and bearings clean and the beam zeroed and you will be fine.
