I have a little exsperience with crossbows,but quite a bit with conventional bows. Most of the accurracy problems lie at the front and the back of the bolt. make sure the back of the bolt is square before the inserting the nock, and on the front , square the bolt install insert, and shoot a Rage broadhead. If you like fixed blade points, well GOOD LUCK!

Since the arrows for a TAC-15 come complete, you don't have the luxury of squaring the front of the shaft prior to the insert being installed. You can square the back but you have to break the nocks loose as they are glued in from the factory. Then there is a lot more to do to get the best groups you can out of the arrows.

A standard Rage broadhead has a VERY good chance of early deployment due to the g-forces encountered when shot out of a TAC-15. Rage just came out with a crossbow version this year to help accommodate those shooting a crossbow and having these problems.

Hey Super 91, I'm not familar with this tac 15 Are you telling me you can't build bolts for this crossbow? As far as the blades opening early you'll just have to shoot it. Try some different mechanical heads if you don't like those.

Yes, the ONLY shaft for the TAC-15 at this point is the TAC shaft, and they come complete right now. They just came up with a new SKU that is for shafts only, but no one has gotten any in at this point so we do not know whether they just did not fletch them or if they will leave all the components loose so we can assemble them ourselves, which is preferable.

A standard RAGE broadhead will deploy the blade early when shot out of TAC on occasion. It is a crap shoot I am not willing to take a bet on. I have shot them so I know. Here is my fix....

Notice the small notches cut into the back of the blade. I used a small dremel tool to touch the blade for a second and made a small notch for the rubber band to sit in. I tested this head and deployment out of the TAC was no problem at all.

I also tested the Spitfires which did very well with no deployment in flight at all. I tried the standard Spitfires and the Maxx's too. Here is what the Maxx does to a doe....

Hey super, What are those shafts from PSE made out of? Also is that broadhead a sniper or a rage in your pics? I know rage bought the patent and took out the ruubberband design . I don't know if that would change it's preformance or not. I think two rubberbands is a good idea.

They are indeed Rages. The Rocky Mtn Snypers were a much better design in my opinion, but I wanted to test some Rages so I got them and had early deployment when I first tested them. So I fixed the problem.

The TAC shaft is a filament wound or wrapped carbon fiber shaft. Cross-weave as it is advertised so that the fibers run in opposite directions. This makes for a better spine supposedly, or more generally consistent. That is a topic we are trying to bring to light.

I stopped by the Grim Reaper booth at the ATA show and looked over the heads there. They are great looking heads and I know guys who have great success with them. Not too many guys that use them don't just love them.

I just came from a local PSE Pro shop. I picked up a 3012 Special Bitzenburger nock receiver an some Tac 15 Dura Vanes. He ordered me a set of bare shafts with components. he didn't think any would want them because the price is about $85.00. So bottom line is you now can get them.

Yes, but they won't be available for about a month. And the inserts and nocks will come installed and not loose. So you can get shafts, just not "bare" shafts.

I will speak to the Pse rep and pass on the preferences of the Tac users.

I'll inform him on the issues and concerns I've read in these blogs.

He is or was a competition shooter, so I'm sure he understands the need to be precise.

The local dealer is under the impression that the components will be sold separately. Stating that Pse has reached an agreement with Firenock and will offer their D nock. Which the user needs to be able to replace without risking damage to the arrow shaft.

I hope this is the case as it will please many Tac 15 owners.

I just left the outdoor show at the casino. I was able to speak with the regional PSE rep. He told me that PSE now sells the Tac 15 arrows as a bare shaft and component set. He was in Tucson AZ yesterday and said that they had plenty of bare shaft sets available for shipment. The only wait period is on a 50 pack of white fletching, which will be 0ne week.

He also stated that Bitzenburger now sells a jig made just for the Tac 15.
you don't have to rotate the tac 15 arrow to fletch it.

I don't know the price. he recommended I call them direct to buy one.
