I'm looking a another custom build in .338 Lapua Improved and I was thinking about trying some custom aluminum tipped bullets. Does anyone have any experience with these type of bullets? If you have any pics please post them. Thanks for your time.

I build both aluminum and brass tipped bullets for long range hunting and can assure you that they work very well. Having said that, it is not so much the composition of the tip as it is the jacket thickness and hardness. The core composition. Amount of jacket taper. The diameter at the junction of the jacket and the tip. The advantages of metal tips are sharper points for higher b.c. and more weight/volume than plastics ....Rich
p.s. Send me your personal e-mail and I will send you some pics

I have used aluminum and brass tipped bullets many years ago. They were called Winchester silver tip and Remington bronze points. :D For runner to the ballistic tip bullets. I just could not resist. By the way they did open up and blow BIG HOLES ALSO.
