SOLD/EXPIRED Does anyone need a Sako TRGs (M995) stock?

I think I am going to re-barrel my Sako TRGs with a heavier target barrel. This means I am going to need a new stock. The prices on the McMillan stock is ridiculous so I am contemplating selling the original stock to help fund this fiasco. I thought I would keep it because I usually keep all of the original equipment I end up replacing, but because of the exorbitant cost of this project I am contemplating this to help offset some of the cost. Does anyone even need one of these or know what the value would be? If they aren't worth much I will just keep it. Just let me know if you are interested and what it would be worth to you. Thanks.

Unless things have changed, you will need the spring, pin and lever from the mag release from the original stock to put on the McMillan. Better check before you sale.

A grand? The A3 stock is $498. Bottom metal is $175. The adjustable cheekpiece option for the stock is an additional $116. I'm figuring around $800 and I will need my trigger group and mag release parts. Do you know something I don't?

My father is interested as the one he currently has is cracked in the pistol grip area and then was repaired - bought it along with the rifle used.

Question is: How much - $200, $300, more?

Let me know. Price will affect whether my father purchases it or not.

You obviously did not read my link to the OP post on the subject. Here's an e-mail from McMillan ...

You will have to stick with the M995 (otherwise known as the TRG S) into the A5 (Winchester) stock and would also have to purchase the TRG S trigger guard from us. The stock will run you around $850 with the trigger guard and 1 hour custom work we have to perform (due to tang).

You're right, I didn't. I did not realize that was a link. As Lando Calrissian once said, "this deal is getting worse all the time...". I was just looking at McMillan's published prices on their web site.

I should recieve my McMillan TRGS stock in the next couple of days. It was ~$690 with their bottom metal. I ordered it 11/1/2010. Brownells has a TRGS magazine parts kit (pins and springs) for about $50. I don't remember the part number but if you need it I could possibly find it. I bought the McM because I broke mine just behind the action, in front of the pistol grip. They are not really too strong in that area. I bought a spare stock off of this site a couple of years ago for ~$100. Not many options for TRGSs out there. I spoke to Joel a while back, and he doesn't inlet a stock for the TRGS.

A member just queried Joel earlier this month. Send him the barreled action and he can write a CNC inlet program off of it. He'll then be able to inlet any of his stocks for it. So, it's cost to write the program + cost of the stock.

Another option is through MPI ...

Hi,
There is no replacement stock made for the 995 Sako
If you send the old plastic stock to us we can cut the inletting out of it and put into one of our fiberglass stocks and glass bed it to your rifle.
You would need to send the rifle to us.
We would also recommend changing the recoil lug to one that will prevent future stock problems.
We can put it in any of our stock styles and glass bed it and finish it for you.
We have made stocks for many of those actions because the factory stocks break quite often

Hi again,
The cost to restock will be $850
If you want a new recoil lug installed it will be another $200
It's quite a bit of work, but we've done lots of them with great success.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
