I looked at Barnes data for the TSX in 270win and noticed all the data was for powders faster than the tried and true h4831 and rl22. Some of the powders listed were 4350, hunter, h414 and rl19.

Is it common for the TSX to do better with slightly faster powders or am I thinking too much? I have no experience with barnes and want to see if there may be better options than their limited data. Hopefully I can avoid a lot of expensive trial and error.

Thanks,

Chris

Barnes works great with H4831 or h4831sc. Seat them .050" off the lands. Rl-22 would also, but both are going to be a compressed load. Barnes are a little longer.

One thing though, clean the barrel real good, and only use barnes bullets while testing.Dont shoot any lead copper jacket bullets while testing, can hurt accuracy.

I think either RL-22 or H4831 should work well in most guns. I have had very good success with RL-22 and Barnes 130 TSX bullets. I have surprised myself with the velocity I have been able to get with this combination.

Thanks for the help guys. When I get a chance I'm def going to give the TSX bullets a try. I think they could be perfect for me because I usually hunt wooded areas where shots can be at not great angles. I have a pound of H4831SC and will also pick up some VV N560 and see what happens.
