I know its not needed to reduce the felt recoil on a 308 compared to a magnum caliber, but what about being able to stay on target better? as in not losing sight picture? What brands are recommended? Or which ones work the best? Will be going on a remington 700 ww 5R 308.

I have shot 3 different brakes from 3 different 300 win mag rifles. All were a 2-3 chambered brakes. 1) Big Maxi, 5//8 x 24, 3" long, 1 1/4" wide. 2) Big Chubby, 5/8 x 24, 4" long 1 3/4" wide. 3) Armalite V-block design, 3" long, 2" wide. The Armalite V-block had the least felt recoil. All allowed some movement off target at full 24x power. Felt recoil was reduced by all brakes 50-80% allowing comfortable shooting with a 3/4" pachmayr decelarator butt plate.

Big Mike, I've been running an OPS brake on my R-5 all season and really like the trim design. I can spot my trace @ around 250yds. The Big Chubby works well as does Badger's FTE, but I like the OPS's cleaner lines.
cheers
