my brother's always shot 165 gr bullets in his 300 WBY and now i've convinced him to go with a heavier bullet as he'd like to be able to take game at 600 if the opportunity came along. i told him the 200 Accubond would make that thing a hammer and was wondering what powder everyone's using with 180 or 200 gr bullets. his barrel is 26" with a 10 twist.

On cases of this size (80 to 90grains) I like to use H4831,or H4350. case density is better with
the 4831 sc and with the 200gr bullets should reach 98 to 100% density.

Some rifles like the H869 and H 50 BMG but they require a longer barrel than 26".

7828 or Retumbo may work but I have no experience with it in the 300 WBY MAG.

our 300 rums like the accubond ,so we tried them in the 300 wby. we could not get them to shoot, so we tried the 210 berger and whoa! we used h1000, i think 76 grains but not where i can look right now. it was a mild load to the best of my memory, but it shot incredible. good luck

80.5 grains of H 4831 with a cci 250 primer has been my best accuracy load with the 200 grain since about 1972. It shoots very well with the accubond at 3032 fps out of my 26" barrel. I can get better velocity with newer powders. 7828 is faster and good accuracy. Several other new powders do well.

I have been shooting and loading for the 300 wby for longer than I care to remember. I load for a lot of guns other than mine, also. I have been shooting 210 -220 class bullets for the last 15 years. My combo....

Reloader 22 for 180-200 grain bullets, reloader 25 for 210 - 220 bullets.

Fed 215 primers.

I have tryed many, many powders in both my match guns and hunting guns.

It always ended up being RL22 untill the RL 25 came out. That is when I started using both, depending on bullet weight.

Retumbo came in a close second. Other powders I have tried....H 4350, imr 4350, h4831, imr4831, h1000, imr7828, h5010, bmg, h414.......hell I can't remember them all. i would like to try some of the Vihtavuori powders.

All of my hunting and match bbls shoot berger 210vld's/RL25 into itty bitty holes. I do have one match bbl that never made the cut as a match bbl now shooting 210 bergers to 3270 with Retumbo for a LR hunting BBL!!! SMOKIN!!!:D
