I have a 338 lapua built on a 700 action. i am going to put ken farrell 30 MOA bases on it but I am not sure if I want 2 piece or 1. what are some opinions on the 2? advantages/disadvantages? one thing I am slightly concerned about is my ejection port. that fat lapua case doesnt go in there with tons of extra space so i dont want to cover part of my ejection port but it looks like they mill out the bottom corner to address that ussue on the 1 piece. they are noth the same price. so what do you guys think?

Tikkamike,

I use a 1pc base (leupy MK4) on my 700 sa, that particular rifle is chambered in Lazzeroni Patriot which IIRC is the same head diameter as the Lapua. It ejects just fine, so I wouldn't worry about it too much, as my personal preference I like the one piece base for my projects, I am not even sure if you can get a 2pc base setup with any kind of cant (20 or 30 MOA)?? Maybe I have just never seen it, who knows.

I hope this helps,

I believe NF makes 2 piece 20moa bases.

Very good point I forgot to mention, most of the accessories needed can be mounted on your scope as well; however I prefer to have them mounted to my base, as placement can obscure either the elevation or windage turrets, or if mounted behind your turrets (muzzle side) they themselves can become obscured. Something to consider if you plan to use the ACI and a level with your long range rig.
