300. wsm for long range

Most people set up rifles chambered in the 6.5, 7mm, and 338 rounds. When i read about a 30 cal, a lot of the time its a 300. win mag or RUM. Personally i love the 300. wsm and need to know how good would it be for long range hunting. Im not talking extreme ranges, just 600 yards and closer. I have read that this round can keep up with the 300 win mag, and is incredibly accurate. Being new to long range shooting and hunting, what are you thoughts on making a long range rig with a 300. wsm

Its more than ok. 1200 yards is what most people rate the 300 wsm and 300 win mag at. Pick a bullet between 180 and 210g and your good to go.
