Falling block actions for BIG cases

Just wondering if anyone out there knows of a large falling block action that could handle 50bmg shells? I think the Ruger No1 tropical may be big enough to handle a 338 lapur or even the 408 cheytac shell but not sure about the 50bmg.

Something a bit bigger and stronger than the ruger no1 wouldn't hurt if i was to shoot something bigger than the 338LM out of it.

Also if i wanted to change calibers would i need more than just a barrel change with the falling block actions?

The extractor has to be changed if the case head changes.

I'm not a gunsmith but the chamber diameter is confined by the barrel diameter which must be threaded into the receiver. If you have no sidewall thickness you might as well use some electrical conduit, a rubber band and nail for a once in a lifetime shot. Think about it for a minute and then try skydiving without a parachute as a more healthy alternative.

Butt stocks won't fair too well, either. Too much shock in too small of a space.

i visited the website and there wasn't much info on it.
I'm in Aus so it would be hard to call the guy...

The Brownings and the Rugers are great for the .458 cal and down but they are not big
enough for the larger cases.

I don't know anyone that makes a falling block that will work for the big 50 and would
recomend a purpose built bolt action for the 50 BMG or a M82 A1 semi auto Barrett.

If he has the reamer he will chamber it. Mostly 45-70, 45-100 is what people order from him. He does have one 50BMG I made an offer but he declined because he got 10,000.00 for the last one. He has and will ship down under let me know what your looking for and I'll give him a call and get back to you. Basic rifle starts around 3,000.00 and goes up to whatever you can afford. He is a craftsman and you will not be dissappointed. If I end up going over I'll see if I can get pics of the .50

Firstly i want to let you know that at the moment i am window shopping and just doing research as i am not 100% sure of what i want. About 98%..lol

What i am after is to design a long range rifle off the falling block action.
i like this action for 3 reasons. Its short so decreases the total length of the rifle.
people say they can be made to be very accurate. And lastly i want to be able to change calibers without changing the entire set up or having to buy another rifle.

what i was thinking is, i wanted the first rifle to be made in 357 cheytac and have the option of going to the 50bmg sized brass.
i would want a match grade barrel (not fussed on which brand yet)
and a composite stock with the forend set up to have a bipod and the barrel floating.

If i have the funds i would probably get a 7mm or 300 wsm barrel as well

The 50bmg that you made an offer on, was it a larger action or the same size as the regular Borchardts?

I like your thought process, I have a collection of Browning High Wall Rifles from 22-250 to 444 Marlin. Love the design and how the throats of the rifles allow for more seating depth and powder. I have been kicking the tires of doing a re barrel on another of mine into a more efficient cartridge.

The extractor is going to be the tricky one with that many cartridges, you will have to swap it over with you barrels.
