Im stumped. Help Please!

I'm kind of a newbie at long range shooting but I do know a thing or two about it. My current rifle of choice is a Winchester Model 70 Stealth in .308 with a Leupold Mark 4 6.5-20x50mm LR/T M1. Here is my issue. I was out sighting it in for long range shots the past 2 days. at 100 yards I'm hitting <1 MOA consistently. I have the JBM ballistics calculator on my phone and while I understand this is not necessarily dead on every time, it should at least get me on paper at 400 yards. Anyways, I set up a target reading about 440 yards on my Leica range finder. I plug in the info in JBM including all my bullet info. Right now I'm shooting HSM 168gr VLD's. I have made sure all the inputs in the calculator are correct. However, when I shoot the bullet is hitting like 4 feet hight. So I set it to my zero mark. Bullet it still high. I am prone the whole time and 100% sure im not jerking it. I drop down 7 MOA the opposite way and finally hit it. I sighted it in at 100 two days ago. Have not dropped the gun, messed with the sights or anything. Am i doing something wrong?

Start over and re enter all the info. Check your MV again and zero at 200 yards. Re check all the rifles torq settings. Re read the loupold manual make sure you are not over dialing your target.

440 yards is my pet distance. I live on a farm and have a steel gong in my back yard at this distance.
I would expect your .308 to only have about 8 MOA elevation in total at that distance with a 100 yards zero.

How much are you dialing for 440?? I have JBM aswell and any reasonable .308win load with a 168vld going 2500fps to 2800fps is between 7 and 10moa from a 100yard zero.

I was thinking the same thing and dialed that in at first and hit really high. So I dialed it down to like 4 MOA and I could tell it dropped more but it was still high and at my 100 yard zero which I shot 6 in row within 1 MOA group the day before it was still high. I then dialed it 6 MOA down and hit the target. I have no idea what it is. That target was completely level at me too.

Hold on, that was confusing. How many minutes up were you from your 100yard zero?

Did you rezero the turret after you sighted in the rifle? I would confirm your 100yard zero, then go up 7.75mins and be very surprised if you didn't smack the target somewhere.

I was maybe like 6 minutes up on the target from 420 yards. Shot the gun yesterday right before dark and hit a 3 shot group all within 1 MOA. Both turrets were set at 0 when i did that. I took the rifle home, cleaned it well, and stored it. I am very careful with it and am certain i did not knock it in any way. Today I go out and set a target up from 420. All my dials are at 0 and im completely level with the target. I dial my turret up 8 minutes and it was hitting about 4 feet high. Dialed it to zero and still high. Then -7 minutes and hit the target.

15minutes per revolution? Sounds like you returned your scope to zero but the wrong way around so you were 15mins high at "0" +8 = 23min, or 8ft, high. Back to "zero" at 15mins high, then down 7, putting you at +8mins from your actual zero. Your a revolution high.

I didn't make a complete revolution though. I didn't touch the I dials after I shot the gun the night before either. I pulled it out of the case as i left it and went 8 minutes up and then back to zero and then 7 minutes down and then it hit the target. Its almost like my elevation knobs are reversed.
