My bother received his rangefinder from the sportsmans guide yesterday. They advertise the unit to rangefind out to 2000 yards on "non reflective" targets. Well we took it out today (with brand nre batteries) and the thing wouldn't even range more than 200 yards in the day light. The optics were terrible and it would not range anything past 200 even in the late afternoon. Needless to say he will be returning it on Monday. DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE!

If it's a range finder that don't say Lieca.....Don't buy it.

Been using the 1200 lately, and will never touch an 800.

My Leica 1200 was used yesterday in bright sunlight and ranged pine trees at 1220 yds, handheld. I had purchased a Newcon 1500 that wouldn't get a range at 550 to a pine tree in daylight when overcast. I sent it back an got the Leica. I actually ranged a crow at 650 with this thing and I'd say that's as good as it gets with a class 1 laser. I sold my bushnell 1000 about a year ago because it simply wouldn't range in real world conditions. Keep an eye, I'll give a review on the Canon Image stabilizer binoculars sometime after thursday when my new set arrives.

4mesh063,

Are you saying your Newcon wouldn't work well during low light conditions? If so, my experience has been the same.

I have the LRB 7X50 range finding binoculars. They work wonderfully on bright sunny days but after the sun goes down or on a cloudy, gloomy day they are worthless.

I'm still waiting to hear back from Newcon on this subject....

I just sent back one of the new Aimshots sold by sportsmanguide that are supposed to go 2000 yards. Best out of mine was 298 yards on a building. Forget trees, shooting berms, etc. Even then it would only give a reading about 20% of the time. Piece of junk.

What is the company that manufactures it? Bad news, hopefully he will get refund
