First Buck

I finally drew my first buck tag for antelope and i just filled it earlier today. Due to the time constraint of only having one day to hunt i could not be picky in the least but even under the circumstances i managed to bag a nice buck. It had 14 in horns and isnt a trophey by any means but since it is my first buck im gonna do a DIY european mount for it just so i have a standard to dwarf in the coming years

The shot wasnt particularly "long range" but i took the shot in an improvised sitting/kneeling/crouching possition due to the grass height (very tall from an unusually rainy summer in co) and the responce i got to "whats the range?" from my dad was "JUST SHOOT!" the lope was spooked and we had already stalked it over several ridges and it was just looking back before popping over another when i shot it with my .270 win at 375 yds. It dropped on the spot and i ran that distance in what seemed like no time to check out my first buck. I was all grins the whole time we dragged it back and am already looking forward to next season gun)

ill get a pic up as soon as i figure out my darn camera lol the rifle was a .270 rem 700 straight out of the box with a leup 3-9x40 sitting on top. it was loaded with 58gr of my dads unlabeled gun powder(who knows what the old man puts in there) and pushing a 150gr Nosler ballistic tip at 3000fps. pretty sure its a little over the max load but I havent had a problem with the brass or primers so i guess it works. We have it "zeroed" at 200yds according to my dad but its actually around 220-230 range. he is convinced that 2in high at 100yds is dead on at 200 but its still about an inch high.
