25-06 data, 100gr Nosler Etips, Barnes and 115 Bergers?

I was wondering if any of you guys have any info for the 3 of these bullets.... I did see one thread about the bergers so that one gave me some info, but the others I couldnt find.

I tried the search function guys but I couldnt get anything to come up 25-06 related.

btw I went ahead and ordered the e-tips, I want to try em. I tried to order some barnes and some bergers but cabelas was sold out, so I'm HOPING I can pick em up next week when I go pick the rifle up, a new 700 sps stainless.

what powders would you guys recommend also?

I already have a good stash of imr 7828 and some retumbo

It is hard to beat IMR 4350 or H-4831 in a 25-06.

The load that I have used to deer hunt for many years has not changed.

49 grs IMR 4350, Rem case, CCI 250 mag primer, 117 Sierra pro hunter 3000 fps and will shoot under 1" at 300 yards on a calm day. I have killed well over 100 deer with this rifle and load and I have not had to shoot one twice and 99% of the time they drop in their tracks.

I'll pick up some 4350 then! and probably pick up some 4831 also.

I'm gunna try several different loads over time, but I was wanting something to start with to get myself and the rifle dialed in. Which I'll prolly pick up a box of ammo just for sighting in and then go from there with the hand loads, and that way I'll have some fire formed cases.

It is hard to beat IMR 4350 or H-4831 in a 25-06.

I got interested in RL17 shortly after it was released. Only problem is that they did not release data for a number of likely candidate cartridges.

Manufacturer tech support said IMR4350 data should work for most.

At COL 3.185", I've found that RL17 49.0 / under either Nosler 115 B-Tips, or the older 120 Solid Base will go into 0.40" - 0.50" groups @ 100 pretty easily.

Interestingly, IMR4350 (48.0 / COL 3.185") seems to work better for the 100 B-Tips.

All of the above were fired from factory Rem700's (22" Mountain & 24" Sporter).

Understand that you originally asked about E-Tips, but maybe the data will transfer. If the profile of the e-tip is similar to the b-tip, I'd suggest you seat them to 3.185", & as always, start low - & work up slow. Pretty sure you will find the sweet spot.

Yes length makes a differance
I started at 3.200 and now am at 3.270
I will not go any longer that puts me .030 off the lands
I dont like getting to close(just my thing)
Next Im going to up my charge to 49 gr of H4350
This load shoots less than 1/2 moa

Yes seating depth makes a difference. The Sierra bullet seems to like to jump a ways. I load my above mentioned load OAL 3.150 I can't remember how far that is from the lands it has been so long since I measured it. Most will shoot well between 10 and 30 thousands off the lands. I have found that the flat base Sierra Pro Hunter shoots tighter than the Game King BT in a number of rifles I have had. The Bergers WILL shoot jumped. Some need to be jumped a looooog ways. Read the article on how to load hunting ammo for Berger bullets. I have not used them in the 25-06 but have shot them in a couple different rifles, 308 Win and 30X47 HBR.

Good luck getting .257 bergers right now, I've had them on back order since June! I tried 110 accubonds, 115 ballistic tips and sierra 117 sbts. I'm using the sierras this season as they were the most accurate in my 25-06 sendero. I use 57 grains of retumbo for .6 moa accuracy at 3075 fps. I can get much more velocity (3200 with 59.5 grains) but 57 is so consistent I am settling there for this season. Retumbo is a good powder for the heavy bullets, but you may run out of case capacity with the lighter ones. I don't like compressed loads and was having to pack em pretty tight with a 110 AB. I guess what I'm wondering, is if there is something inherent about the 25-06 design, that requires a long jump to the lands for accuracy - or pressure control? I have noticed a lot of guys (myself included) report best performance, w/ a COL that leaves them w/ a jump of 0.050" - 0.150".

I first noticed this when trying to work up a load for a Ruger No.1-B. Just could not get anything to work seated within a "normal" distance from the lands, & then realized that the factory WW Supreme 25-06 (Nosler 117CT) that shot so well, had a COL of 3.185". Been my starting point ever since - w/ Noslers in the 100 to 120 grain range.

Out of curiousity, what seating depth seems to provide best performance in your Sendero?

I have real good results with Reloader 19 with Sierra 100gr(all varieties),and Nosler 115gr Silvertips.
I haven't every had any decent results with Barnes bullets,so I don't try them anymore.
Rifle is a Savage 110 FLP. I seat most of my loads .40 off the lands.

I never really thought about why my current 25-06 shoots so well with the bullet way off the lands. It is a Rem. sportsman 78 ( poor man's 700) action with a Shilen #6 SS 26" barrel in a H&S Precision stock. It will go in my casket with me when I die. I have had other 25-06 rifles, Rem 700 and Ruger #1 and have loaded for other people. Some rifles do shoot with the bullets close to the lands. The 700 Rem I had liked 117 Sierra PH and 52 grs. H-4831 with the bullet 10 thousands off the lands. As long as I get the accuracy with decent velocity I don't care how far off the lands I have to load a bullet. I will not load a hunting round closer than 10 thousands though. Got a bullet stuck once on a hunting trip and wasted half a day getting back to camp to poke it out with a cleaning rod and clean the powder out of the action. You live and learn.

ok guys one more question.... I'm undecided on primers....

I have 1,000 9 1/2s and 2000 9 1/2Ms..... I looked for CCI 200s and 250s yesterday and couldnt find any, all I could find was 400s and 450s.

ya think I should go ahead w/ 9 1/2s or jus wait till I can get some 200s?
