500-1000 LR scopes

Been consideing a bushnell 6500 4.5-30 Doa for around $750 but, am axing the idea.
The clicks are 8% off in my 4200 2-16 and find that ok on a hunting scope but, not a LR appilication...it just complicates things. I do love the glass though.


I need other ideas while keeping costs down in the sub 1000 range...like 500-800 feels ok to spend.

I plan on sending 7mm 180 Bergers out to 1700Y someday just for fun so a wide/solid adjustment range and clear magnification are a big plus.

Dam, you nailed it...CS Tactical now has my deposit for a pst. Hope the glass is good as everything else. Looks well thought out per my application.

I put a Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20x50 0n my 338 edge and it is great scope,super clear optics,repeatable tracking,paid $800 for it new.Zeiss is very tough to beat.

Sightron S111 6 - 24x would be a great option. very good scope for the money.

I put a Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20x50 0n my 338 edge and it is great scope,super clear optics,repeatable tracking,paid $800 for it new.Zeiss is very tough to beat.

I agree for the money the glass is so much brighter than anything else I have looked at - their CS is second to none, used one last year on my deer rifle, was real good for low light conditions, took the shock even in the extreme cold for hours which many scopes won't.

My heart is set on a Swaro Z5 but i have the Zeiss sitting here NIB - been debating the extra $$ if its worth it.

I have a bad taste from Bushnell from long ago, I wouldnt give them the sweat off my #@@#s they can forget about getting my business.

I had a chance to look through 3 nightforces and a sighttron last month at a 570Y BR meet. I had my 4200 4-16x 40 Bushnell and it was as clear if not clearer than the nightforces.....now the magnification of a 42X nightfoce is pretty cool. The only one that I could not understand is a sighttron III...very fuzy. I left feeling that the 4200 glass was one hell of a bargan.....but, the clicks are a bit off when you want to dial in 20moa. It does always return to my zero and taken 4 years of hard hunting- it's just that if I want 10.o moa I'll have to dial 9.2 lol

I can't wait to test the Vortex to my 4200.

May have to look at those Conquests too....

For the money it's seems like a very nice scope.

+1 on the sightron. I own leupold, swarovski, you name it.....my long range rigs have sightron. JMHO

I'm in the process of building a 260 AI for long range and I'm at the point where I'm picking an optic. I had $3000 to spend. I looked thru nightforce, sightron, leupold, IOR, Zeiss, etc. In the end, I bought the Sightron SIII. The reason was because I just couldn't justify paying double as much for slightly better optics in the NF and IOR. The Zeiss and Sightron were very close; the leupold was the least quality of the ones mentioned. In the end, Sightron got my money because of the value for the dollar. As far as value right now, I don't think you can go wrong with either Zeiss or Sightron SIII.

I agree with the Zeiss Conquest recomendation. I have a 4.5-14 Conquest on my 257 Weatherby. I haven't tried a whole lot of scopes in this pricerange, (mine are Nightforce, Leupold Mark 4s ect or cheaper models on my cheaper guns). But for $725 it's a REALLY good scope. I don't dial up with mine. I have a dropchart I carry and I know where each line hits out to 1000 yards. It's a VERY good scope.
