Who here has built and hunts with a 6.5x284? I have an action on the way and still undecided on stock and barrel contour. Post what you have, what you like about your build, and what you would change, if anything.

Well you asked for it!!

The likes: Shoots .2s and .3s if I do my part, very little recoil, and drops everything I point it at.:D

Things I change: I 'd go with a little lighter barrel contour, the M24 get pretty heavy if you have to carry it very far. I'd also go with a different stock, the tactical style on it has "corners" on the forend. It does't take long for them to "dig in" to a forearm when you're standing around cradling it. A rounded or beaver tail would be more comfortable.

I have the factory Cooper Phoenix. I would trade nothing or change noting except i would like a repeater.

Just got mine done last month and couldn't be happier. I don't think I would change anything. I just can't wait to do some killin with it. Here are the specs;

Here's my 6.5x284 built on a Rem 700 platform in a Simmonson Machine aluminum stock. Topped off with a 8.5-25 Leupold Mark 4. It shoots small groups at 1000 yards

Here's two groups the little woman shot the other day. The smallest is very typical of how it shoots all the time.
What I like about this gun is the feel of the stock. I really like a traditional looking stock but when you get nestled in behind this thing it's VERY comfortable to shoot. Who'd a thunk it. Even though a 6.5x284 is a low recoil round, the muzzle brake helps so I can see the IVGs, (immediate visual gradification). I don't hunt with it at 20lbs but it's a pleasure to shoot. Chuck.

Blue printed Rem 700 Action
1:8 Kreiger Barrel
HS Precision stock
Almost no recoil
On the third load I tried it shot 1/2" with 152gr ULD RBBT's. Could probably get it tighter but I'm happy with that since I just use it as a coyote gun.

I love it but I'm looking to sell to get a lighter one for my daughter to use as a carry gun. $975 if you know of someone who's interested.
